Job Responsibilities:
∎ Lead technical related discussions and recommendations on WASH technical aspects (hardware).
∎ Develop TWiG workplan related to water, sanitation, and solid waste
∎ Identify partners to collaborate with
∎ Attend to WASH sector monthly meetings and possibly to SAG if requested by sector coordinator/deputy.
∎ Under the guidance of the WASH Sector Coordinator/deputy, provide support to strategic planning around sanitation, solid waste, and water.
∎ Identify main needs of technical support (related to water and sanitation) through survey, meetings, or field visits.
∎ Review existing technical information at sector level and identify gaps.
∎ Develop tools to collect “infrastructure related information” to identify technical challenges or camps disorders.
∎ Support partners to improve the quality of their data collection, assessments, studies, or evaluations allowing, where possible, results to be applicable to other projects.
∎ Monitor expenditures, budgets, and track activity expenses; ensure that appropriate action is taken in a timely fashion
∎ Provide ad hoc support to partner projects to ensure they are implemented to the right quality.
∎ In conjunction with TWG members, increase the quality of WASH facilities allowing dignity and efficiency
∎ Develop or share design of water and sanitation infrastructures.
∎ Preparation of drawings (AutoCAD), BoQ/Cost Estimates and Tender documents for all WASH infrastructures
∎ Develop technical resources (e.g., strategic framework, standard operating procedures (SOPs), manuals) to guide BRAC WASH Infrastructure interventions, drawing from international best practices, along with field specific observations
∎ Organize training (or webinars) to increase the capacity of partners in the provision of WASH facilities.
∎ Conduct trainings for project staff and ‘Community WASH Focal Points’ on WASH infrastructure monitoring, operations, and maintenance.
∎ Take initiatives to design, prepare, revise training materials including training modules and maintain updated curriculum database, training records, and monitoring tools.
∎ Facilitate effective sharing of information and data between partners.
∎ Support the mainstreaming of cross-cutting issues including Protection, Gender, and Environment.
∎ Ensure that the WASH Sector Coordinator/deputy are regularly informed of critical issues
∎ Attend on a need basis the field coordination meeting in HC or camps.
∎ Collaborate with the Knowledge Leadership team to develop result and monitoring framework and tools to closely monitor projects impact.
∎ Work with stakeholders to improve the overall quality and accountability of humanitarian action.
∎ In collaborating with KL team, facilitate documenting experiences, preparing reports, presentations, briefs and articles for wider dissemination and publication.
∎ Advocate for and support partners to implement WASH sector standards and approved technical orientations
∎ Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment, and exploitation to achieve the programme’s goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance, and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
∎ Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
∎ Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Designing and implementing water and sanitation systems in refugee and migrant contexts, maintaining sanitation systems, and implementing hygiene promotion programs.
∎ Demonstrated analytical, motivational, communication, project conceptualization, and planning skills.
∎ Experience in developing WASH strategy, clear and realistic activity planning; overseeing implementation, tracking the progress, reporting against the agreed indicators, and managing the project budget
∎ Experience in emergency and early recovery phases, including assessments and the design and delivery of effective water supply and hygiene promotion interventions in humanitarian and development contexts.
∎ Experience and understanding of key intuitional donors’ policies, guidelines, and strategies
∎ Demonstrated experience in WASH proposal development and preparation of internal and donor reports.
∎ Ability to effectively present information (both written and verbally) and respond appropriately to questions from senior managers
∎ Ability to understand gender-related challenges within the beneficiary groups
∎ Works well in and promotes teamwork, comfortable in a multi-cultural environment, flexible, and able to handle pressure well
∎ Demonstrated experience of working closely with support functions (finance and logistics) on activity and procurement planning.
