Job Context:
∎ JOB PURPOSE: Drive, coordinate, and support the development and implementation of the organisation`s safeguarding policy across BRAC with necessary reporting on compliance status to different stakeholders. The safeguarding specialist is responsible for supporting a range of activities related to Safeguarding functions. Additionally they will coordinate tracking, and trending matters related Safeguarding implementation. This individual will also be tasked with providing input on relevant policies, procedures, documents and initiatives as directed and with a specific focus on Safeguarding.
∎ SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES
∎ Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the programmes goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
∎ Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
∎ Ensure regular reporting to different body of BRAC and different development partners.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Support the development and monitoring the awareness about the organisation's safeguarding policy and measures.
∎ Work with managers / staff to ensure that programmes and operations are preventing (or addressing) situations where vulnerable people may be put at risk of harm, because of the way the project / programme / operation is designed or implemented.
∎ Promote participation so that employees are aware of the organisation's safeguarding measures and Code of Conduct, and of their right to protection including how they would raise a concern about their safety or wellbeing.
∎ Work with programme managers to establish and ensure community-level complaints mechanisms that facilitate reporting of harm and abuse.
∎ Review reports in regards to harm and abuse, responding in accordance with the organisation's procedures and providing referral or next step advice.
∎ Discuss subsequent action required, to ensure the safety and welfare of individual people, in cases of harm caused by the organisation.
∎ Monitor the progress of all cases maintaining organizational procedures and standard of confidentiality, sensitivity, non-discriminatory.
∎ Liaison between staff and managers to access external technical support in particular in regards to complex abuse issues.
∎ Coordinate regular reports to senior management on the implementation of safeguarding measures.
∎ Maintain regular coordination with the safeguarding champions' and network members.
∎ Arrange regular meeting with Safeguarding Champion', Core Committee Team, Safeguarding Networks and other functions as necessary.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Computer skills including typing in both Bengali & English.
∎ Communication skill including maintain liaison with multi stakeholders.
∎ Skill in team work involving a multi-disciplinary environment.
∎ Skilled networker who builds and utilizes contacts and relationships to strengthen practice.
∎ Have a good, sound, working knowledge of current safeguarding, child and adult protection legislation, statutory and other related guidance.
∎ Strategic thinker/planner who can take an overview of safeguarding and develop strategies and plans for strengthening the organization's measures.
∎ Preparing and presenting safeguarding, child and adult protection reports and information.
∎ Proficient knowledge and understanding of available safeguarding support services and referral routes
∎ Support others in capacity building on safeguarding, including consultations on beneficiary and child friendly reporting mechanisms.
∎ Adept in designing and delivering presentations and any form of written communication.
∎ Ability to present information analysis to senior management in a manner that enables them to take decisions
∎ 1-2 years of experience in relevant field. Practical experience to work with communities in any Humanitarian Project or Community Development Project will be given preference.
