Responsibilities & Context:

Samaj Kalyan O Unnayan Shangstha (SKUS) envisions a peaceful, prosperous, and poverty-free society that ensures everyone's basic needs and rights. SKUS has, since the 2017 Rohingya refugee influx, worked in Cox's Bazar district with children, adolescents, women, and men. Based on children, adolescents, women, and human rights. SKUS has established quality learning and protection centers with support from different international donors, including UN agencies. SKUS has an agreement with Plan International Bangladesh for the SBF project for Rohingya communities at Rohingya Camps, Ukhia Upazila under Cox's Bazar District.  The aim of this project is to advance quality education for Rohingya children in all their diversity in Cox’s Bazar Rohingya refugee camps.

Role Purpose:

The Program Organizer will be responsible for the implementation of the proposed intervention and responds to the immediate education needs of children adolescents, and youth in Camp (aged 3-17) through an education in emergency consisting of a number of Learning Facility (LC & CBLF) in targeted areas. She/he will ensure the delivery and achievement of program outputs in particular establishment of ECD, MC ALP and PSCD spaces. S/he will support the identification and mobilization and training of facilitators and caregivers, Rohingya and national teaching vounteers in the camp for the meeting, training, delivery of ECCD- Early Childhood Care and Development, for targeted children including MC-Myanmar Curriculum, PSCD and development of learning kits and parenting material. S/he will communicate frequently with TOs for preparing work plans and reporting. S/he will take a proactive stance in identifying and mitigating Child Protection-related risks in the implementation of the project interventions and will represent SKUS at the sub-District Level (Ukhiya).

The role also promotes safeguarding, accountability, gender equality, disability inclusion, and protection-sensitive education to ensure safe, inclusive, and quality learning environments

Duration of contract: Up to May 31, 2028, and contingent on donor extension and government approval.

Key Responsibilities:

The main tasks & Responsibilities of the  Program Organizer are, but not limited to

Program Implementation

  • Support education needs assessment as needed in intervention target areas.

  • Support day-to-day teaching and learning, mentoring facilitators, supports capacity strengthening, and ensures compliance with approved curricula and project standards.

  • Assist the TO in data collection and storage.

  • Support the monitoring and reporting of major concerns on education and as well as child protection concerns inside and around the learning centres/spaces.

  • Ensure early and rigorous implementation of quality and accountability mechanisms.

  • Visiting learning canters regularly, finding gaps and assisting quality delivery of education activities through mentoring and coaching

  • Conducting monthly parent meeting, TLC, LCMC and CMC meeting and parenting sessions.

  • Assist teacher to ensure class management, centre management and pedagogy

  • Helping teacher to update all the register and regulation

  • Maintains CBLF/LC activities in a manner that meets set conventional requirements including sanitation, safety, fire and other regulations ensuring the facility is a safe and a fun place for children to learn and live providing best possible experience.

  • Any other task assigned by the Management

Community and Stackholder Coordination

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with community leaders, parents, caregivers, School Management Committees (SMCs), and other community-based structures to promote participation in education activities.

  • Coordinate regularly with the Camp-in-Charge (CiC) office, and relevant government authorities to ensure smooth implementation of education activities.

  • Engage with community members to identify barriers to children's access, participation, and retention in learning programmes, and support the development of appropriate solutions.

  • Support community awareness and outreach activities to encourage school enrolment, regular attendance, and positive attitudes towards education, particularly for girls, children with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups.

  • Ensure that all coordination and community engagement activities uphold the principles of safeguarding, child protection, gender equality, inclusion, and "Do No Harm."

Monitoring, Documnetation and Reporting

  • Conduct regular monitoring visits to learning facilities to assess the quality of teaching and learning, compliance with project standards, and adherence to approved curricula and teaching methodologies.

  • Monitor learner attendance, retention, participation, and learning outcomes, and recommend corrective actions to address identified gaps.

  • Ensure timely and accurate collection, verification, and compilation of programme data using approved monitoring tools, checklists, and reporting formats.

  • Safeguarding, accountability and Inclusion

  • Ensure disability inclusion and gender-responsive teaching.

  • Monitor children's participation, safety, and wellbeing during learning activities.

  • Must always report any suspected cases of child abuse to the Child Safeguarding Focal Point.

  • Undertakes other responsibilities/duties not outlined above which are commensurate with a role of this nature in the humanitarian sector and which have been discussed and agreed between the line manager/superiors and the post holder.

  • Ensure compliance with the organization's Safeguarding, Child Protection, PSEAH, and Code of Conduct policies.

  • Promote safe, inclusive, and child-friendly learning environments that protect the rights and well-being of all learners.

  • Identify and report safeguarding concerns through established referral and reporting mechanisms while maintaining confidentiality.

  • Promote Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) by ensuring accessible feedback and complaint mechanisms and responding to community concerns appropriately.

  • Ensure equal access and participation for girls, boys, children with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups through gender-responsive and inclusive programming.
