Job Context :
Social Mobilization Officer (SMO) will support the effective implementation of the SASA! Together intervention under the Preventing Violence Against Women and Girls Through Community Mobilization Approach project in the Rohingya refugee camps and surrounding host communities.
Social Mobilization Officer will work under the direct supervision of the Social Mobilization Coordinator and will be responsible for supporting the planning, implementation, facilitation, monitoring and documentation of SASA! Together activities at community level.
The position will work closely with social mobilizers, local activists, community leaders, institutional allies, women and girls, men and boys, community groups and relevant service providers to promote gender equality, challenge harmful social norms and strengthen community capacity to prevent violence against women and girls.
SMO will ensure that SASA! Together activities are implemented according to the approved project plan, technical guidance, tools and quality standards. The position will also contribute to collecting learning and monitoring information, documenting good practices and human-interest stories, and identifying implementation challenges and opportunities for improvement.
Social Mobilization Officer will maintain close coordination with the Social Mobilization Coordinator, Project Coordinator, SASA! Together team, community structures, humanitarian actors and relevant government and service providers.
Job responsibilities:
1. Major Activities/Expected Result
Work closely with the Senior Social Mobilization Coordinator to achieve quality SASA! Together implementation. Strategies and related Activities Community leadership, institutional allies, and local activism.
Ensure technical and supportive supervision for social mobilizers, Local Activist/Change Makers, leaders, and allies.
Collaborating with SASA! Together S/he will identify capacity development requirements and create a plan for staff.
Coordinate capacity development training, workshops, and materials for the social mobilization team.
Collect, analyze, and generate evidence-based responses to prevent and address gender-based violence in emergencies, host, and camp settings.
Supports SASA! Together staff identify grass-roots concerns and gaps, empower and increase their capacity through training, coaching, and mentoring, and track individual, community, and institutional changes.
Ensure together SASA! Learning and assessment tools are used properly and recorded promptly.
Implement GBV preventative initiatives, monitor follow-up, document best practices, and promote gender equality and empowerment for women and girls, engaging men and boys in prevention and response.
Use SASA! Together tool kits per the MoU between Raising Voices and SASA! Together Cohort members.
Creates connections with humanitarian and government agencies focusing on women, GBV prevention, and protection.
Assist in project activities involving men and boys, noting successes and adapting depending on observations and lessons learned.
Enhanced knowledge exchange and coordination for ongoing GBV response and preventive services.
Prepare and submit Monthly, quarterly, mid-year, and year-end reports and successes for Mukti Cox's Bazar and other government lines.
Prepare reports on social mobilization initiatives, success stories, and best practices.
Contribute constructively to humanitarian GBV coordination structures at all levels as required.
2. Staff Development and Management:
Undertake staff development training as part of the related project activities and undertake orientation, discussion sessions etc.
Ensure that the staff are aware of all the policies and follow those in dealing with colleagues and project participants.
Ensure that an enabling environment is prevailing at the workplace and staff are working well enjoying equal opportunities irrespective of male and female.
3. Confidentiality and Ethical Conduct
Maintain confidentiality of information shared by community members and project participants.
Ensure informed consent and appropriate safeguarding measures when documenting stories, photographs or community experiences.
Avoid sharing sensitive personal information without appropriate authorization.
Ensure respectful and non-discriminatory engagement with women, girls, men, boys and other community members.
Promote a safe environment for staff, volunteers and community participants.
Immediately report safeguarding concerns through the appropriate organizational mechanism.
4. Safeguarding & PESA :
Support the achievement of the organization’s safeguarding and PSEA objectives, helping to ensure team members are protected from harm, abuse, neglect, harassment, and exploitation.
Promote and model safeguarding standards across all areas of work, and support team members to practice, advocate for, and uphold the organization’s safeguarding policy.
To meet the program's objectives for safeguarding and PSEA implementation, make sure team members are protected from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment, and exploitation. Serve as a major resource for help, direction, and knowledge on safeguarding & Child protection for developing a safe workplace. To ensure that safeguarding standards are used in every course of action, team members should practice, advocate, and embrace safeguarding policy concerns.
