Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Textile Engineering, Apparel Manufacturing, Fashion/Apparel Merchandising, Business Administration or a relevant discipline.
Candidates with strong practical knit merchandising experience may be considered even if their academic background is from another discipline.
Additional Requirements
Strong practical knowledge of open costing and garment consumption.
Excellent understanding of knit fabrics including Single Jersey, Pique, Interlock, Rib, French Terry and Fleece, along with different cotton, CVC, polyester and blended compositions.
Good understanding of GSM, yarn count, fabric construction, dyeing, washing and shrinkage.
Strong knowledge of screen printing, embroidery, heat transfer, DTF/DTG, sublimation and other garment decoration techniques.
Good knowledge of trims, accessories, labels, packaging and buyer-specific requirements.
Ability to read and interpret tech packs, measurement charts, construction details and buyer comments.
Strong understanding of sampling, approvals, production processes and T&A management.
Strong negotiation, sourcing and problem-solving ability.
Excellent written and spoken English with the ability to communicate independently with international buyers.
Strong command of Microsoft Excel, particularly garment costing and order-tracking sheets.
Ability to lead and develop Junior Merchandisers and coordinate effectively with Sales, Production, Quality and Commercial teams.
Must be organized, accountable and capable of handling multiple buyers/orders simultaneously.
Experience Requirements
Minimum 7–10 years of relevant experience in garments merchandising, preferably in export-oriented knit apparel manufacturing.
At least 2–3 years of experience in a senior merchandising/team-leading role is preferred.
Strong experience in handling international buyers independently is essential.
Practical experience in T-shirts, polos, hoodies, sweatshirts, joggers and other knit/casual/streetwear products will receive preference.
Experience working with European, UK, USA, Canadian or Australian buyers will be an advantage.
Job Context
Brownfield Sustainable Apparel Manufacturing (BSAM) is looking for an experienced, technically sound and result-oriented Merchandising Manager – Knit Apparel to lead and manage the company's merchandising activities for international buyers.
The position will be responsible for handling buyer inquiries after initial qualification by the Sales/Alibaba team and managing the complete merchandising process, including product feasibility, costing, quotation, sample development, sourcing coordination, buyer communication, order confirmation, production follow-up and shipment coordination.
The successful candidate should have strong practical experience in knit garments, particularly T-shirts, polos, hoodies, sweatshirts, joggers and other casual/streetwear products, and should be capable of independently handling international buyers and managing a team of Junior Merchandisers.
The candidate must have strong knowledge of garment costing, fabric consumption, fabric and trims sourcing, printing/embroidery processes, sample development, production planning and export order execution.

Key Responsibilities
Inquiry Review & Merchandising Handover: Receive qualified buyer inquiries from the International Sales/Alibaba team, review buyer requirements, tech packs, product specifications, quantities, target prices and delivery requirements, and assign appropriate tasks to Junior Merchandisers.
Costing & Quotation: Prepare and/or review accurate garment costing based on fabric consumption, yarn/fabric price, trims, accessories, printing, embroidery, washing, CM, testing, packaging and other applicable costs. Prepare competitive quotations while maintaining the company's required commercial margin.
Product & Sample Development: Lead the complete sample development process, including development samples, fit samples, size sets, PP samples and other buyer-required samples. Ensure samples are developed according to buyer specifications and submitted within agreed timelines.
Buyer Communication: Communicate directly and professionally with international buyers regarding technical requirements, costing, quotations, sample comments, approvals, order details and production-related matters. Work closely with the Sales team during price negotiation and order conversion.
Fabric & Trims Coordination: Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams for fabric, trims, accessories, printing, embroidery, labels and packaging requirements. Evaluate sourcing options based on quality, price, MOQ and lead time.
Order Confirmation & Handover: Review purchase orders, sales contracts, tech packs, specifications, size breakdowns, colorways, packaging requirements and delivery schedules before confirming orders for execution.
Order Execution & T&A Management: Prepare and monitor Time & Action plans for confirmed orders. Follow up on fabric, trims, approvals, PP samples, production readiness, bulk production, finishing, packing and shipment milestones to ensure on-time delivery.
Production Coordination: Maintain close coordination with the factory Production, Planning, Quality, Cutting, Sewing and Finishing teams to ensure that buyer requirements are correctly understood and executed.
Quality Coordination: Coordinate with the Quality team regarding buyer quality requirements, measurements, workmanship, testing standards and inspection requirements. Ensure buyer comments and quality concerns are communicated and resolved promptly.
Team Management: Lead, guide and supervise Junior Merchandisers. Allocate buyers/orders and development tasks, monitor daily activities and ensure timely completion of assigned responsibilities.
Commercial & Shipment Coordination: Coordinate with the Commercial Department regarding LC/payment terms, export documentation, shipment schedules and buyer documentation requirements. Follow up internally to ensure shipment readiness within the committed timeline.
Buyer Relationship & Order Development: Maintain professional relationships with existing buyers and support the development of repeat and new business. Work with Sales and Digital Marketing teams to identify products and developments that can generate additional business.
Reporting: Provide regular updates to Management regarding inquiries under development, quotations, samples, potential orders, confirmed orders, production status, shipment schedules, critical issues and required management decisions.
