Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Create comprehensive sourcing roadmaps that align with the company’s long-term goals, focusing on securing the best materials at competitive prices.
∎ Identify and evaluate potential suppliers on a global scale, ensuring a diverse and reliable supplier base capable of meeting the company's needs.
∎ Establish strategic partnerships with key suppliers to secure priority access to materials, favorable pricing, and collaborative product development opportunities.
∎ Conduct thorough assessments of new and existing suppliers, evaluating their production capacity, financial stability, quality control processes, and ethical practices.
∎ Regularly monitor supplier performance through KPIs such as on-time delivery, quality consistency, and responsiveness to issues, and implement improvement plans where necessary.
∎ Stay abreast of global and regional market trends, including new fabric technologies, emerging materials, and shifts in supply chain dynamics.
∎ Leverage market insights and supplier relationships to negotiate the best possible prices for fabrics without compromising quality.
∎ Draft and manage contracts that outline terms, conditions, and expectations clearly, minimizing risk and ensuring mutual understanding.
∎ Implement rigorous quality control processes, including regular audits and inspections of fabric batches to detect and address any defects or deviations.
∎ Collaborate with the quality control team to promptly address and resolve any quality issues that arise during production, maintaining product integrity.
∎ Oversee the entire logistics process for fabric procurement, from order placement to delivery at the production facility, ensuring adherence to timelines.
∎ Continuously assess and mitigate risks related to supplier reliability, geopolitical factors, currency fluctuations, and other potential disruptions in the supply chain.
∎ Ensure that contracts include clauses to protect the company from risks such as late deliveries, quality failures, and price volatility.
∎ Identify and source innovative materials that reduce environmental impact, such as recycled fabrics, organic cotton, or biodegradable fibers.
∎ Collaborate with the finance team to develop accurate budget forecasts based on anticipated sourcing needs, market conditions, and supplier pricing.
∎ Implement cost-saving initiatives such as bulk purchasing, supplier consolidation, and process optimization to maximize the value of the sourcing budget.
∎ Conduct regular audits of suppliers to ensure compliance with company standards, including ethical practices, environmental regulations, and quality management systems.
