Job Context:
∎ JOB PURPOSE: The purpose of this role is to support the media team in promoting BRAC as the leading international development organisation known for its community-led, holistic approach and its ability to deliver long-term impact at scale. BRAC works with communities in marginalised situations, hard-to-reach areas, and post-disaster settings across Asia and Africa, with a particular focus on women and children. It is important to highlight that BRAC operates as a comprehensive solutions ecosystem, encompassing social development programmes, social enterprises, humanitarian response initiatives, a bank, and a university.
∎ SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES
∎ Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the programme`s goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
∎ Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
∎ Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Support a shift of focus from quantity to quality of media coverage through strategic content placement in the press and media
∎ Proactively explore, propose and execute strategic content partnerships with leading media outlets through innovative planning and interventions
∎ Liaise with media monitoring and PR agency in preparing daily, weekly and monthly media monitoring reports and analysis
∎ Contribute in developing a strong crisis rebuttal mechanism by establishing a network between the media team and local-level journalists
∎ Scan media on a daily basis to report or suggest developing trends
∎ Prepare articles and press releases for the media
∎ Develop relationships with national and regional press contacts to ensure the company reputation is promoted, deflect criticism and handle crisis
∎ Plan and oversee press and media events
∎ Proactively source, create, edit, and publish human interest stories for press and media
∎ Provide support in creating online and offline content (print, TV, online/multimedia) for press and media
∎ Provide support in citizen journalism, data visualisation, and countering rumours and misinformation
∎ Coordinate with the communications focal points of BRAC programmes and other units of the Central Communications
Additional Requirements:
∎ Strong communication and negotiation skills
∎ Innovative in developing media partnerships
∎ Good command over both English and Bangla
∎ Should be able to strategize traditional media relations
∎ Should be well connected with decisionmakers from both print and electronic media and thrive in strict, deadline-driven environment
∎ Minimum 3 years of experience in a relevant field
