Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Conduct daily field inspections of vendor construction work, including landfill bed preparation, drainage, leachate treatment, and gas venting systems
∎ Ensure all construction activities meet project specifications, safety requirements, and quality standards
∎ Identify and report construction issues to the Project Engineer for timely adjustments and corrective action
∎ Oversee field operations for landfill activities, ensuring safe and organized waste segregation, disposal, and routine maintenance
∎ Monitor the functionality of landfill systems, such as drainage, gas collection, and leachate management
∎ Perform regular field checks to ensure the site meets cleanliness, safety, and operational efficiency standards
∎ Conduct on-site environmental monitoring in line with local regulations, recording data on air quality, leachate levels, and waste volumes
∎ Support compliance efforts by reporting environmental data to the Project Engineer and helping implement any necessary adjustments
∎ Prepare daily field logs, documenting construction progress, field observations, and operational updates
∎ Assist in updating field reports, quality checklists, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for landfill operations
∎ Coordinate directly with contractors, CfW (Cash for Work) volunteers, and local authorities to facilitate field activities
∎ Communicate any on-site challenges or needs promptly to ensure uninterrupted operations and compliance
∎ Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme's goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment
∎ Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action
∎ Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so
∎ This Position will solely be responsible for construction & managing Sanitary Landfill and effective operation of waste management plant in Cox’s Bazar, preparing WASH structural design and development. More responsibilities will be given emphasis to preparation of detail implementation plan and guideline, detailed activities and work plan, operational processes and timely budget expenditure of field level implementation of the WASH activities in association with project team.
