Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Create and modify patterns based on design sketches or tech packs. Ensure patterns meet fit, construction, and production requirements. Grade patterns for different sizes while maintaining consistency.
∎ Conduct fit sessions on live models or mannequins. Identify fit issues and suggest corrections (e.g., adjusting seams, darts, or proportions). Work with designers and product developers to achieve the desired fit and silhouette.
∎ Prepare detailed tech packs with measurements, construction details, stitching instructions, and fabric specifications. Ensure all technical details are clear for manufacturers.
∎ Oversee garment construction to ensure it meets brand standards. Check stitching, seams, trims, and overall finish for consistency. Identify potential production issues and suggest solutions.
∎ Liaise with manufacturers to clarify technical requirements. Resolve production-related issues (e.g., fabric shrinkage, sewing problems). Ensure samples match approved specifications before bulk production.
∎ Assess fabric behavior (stretch, drape, shrinkage) and its impact on garment fit. Recommend suitable interlinings, elastics, buttons, zippers, etc.
∎ Maintain records of fit comments, pattern revisions, and sample approvals. Suggest improvements in construction techniques to enhance efficiency and quality.
∎ Use CAD software (e.g., Gerber, Lectra, Optitex) for pattern making. Stay informed about sustainable and innovative production methods.
