Additional Requirements:
  • Experience:

  • At least 2 years of experience in community engagement, fieldwork, or grassroots project implementation, preferably in a humanitarian or development context.

  • Experience working in conflict-affected areas or with vulnerable populations, particularly refugees, is highly desirable.

  • Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse community members.

  • Proven ability to facilitate group discussions, workshops, and training sessions.

  • Basic understanding of conflict resolution techniques and tools.

  • Ability to work independently in the field, with minimal supervision.

  • Fluency in Bengali; knowledge of local dialects and the Rohingya language is an advantage.

  • Ability to adapt to challenging environments and work under pressure.



Responsibilities & Context:

Contract:

Initial contract of 33 months with a 3-month probation period. Renewal is subject to performance and availability of funding.

Reports to: Project Officer

Location: Ukhiya/Teknaf, Cox`s Bazar, Bangladesh

Duration: 33 Months/2 Year 9 Months (01 February 2025 – 31 October 2027)

Probation Period: 3 Months

Position Summary:

The Field Facilitator will be responsible for the on-the-ground implementation of the peace-building and social cohesion project within Rohingya refugee communities and adjacent host communities in Cox`s Bazar, Bangladesh. This role requires direct engagement with community members, organizing and facilitating activities aimed at promoting harmony, understanding, and cooperation. The Field Facilitator will work closely with the Project Officer to ensure that project objectives are met at the grassroots level, and that the voices of the community are effectively integrated into the project’s activities. S/he must have a clear understanding on young peacebuilders’ security, entrepreneurial and livelihood skills and capacity to contribute to conflict prevention and resolution, promoting inclusion and social cohesion, inclusive local governance mechanisms to strengthen peace processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Community Engagement:

  • Act as the primary point of contact between the project team and the local community, building trust and fostering positive relationships.

  • Facilitate regular community meetings, discussions, and dialogues aimed at promoting peace and social cohesion.

  • Identify key community leaders, influencers, and groups, and work with them to support project activities.

  • Facilitation of Activities:

  • Organize and conduct workshops, training sessions, and events focused on conflict resolution, peace-building, and social cohesion.

  • Ensure that activities are inclusive and culturally sensitive, encouraging participation from all community segments, including women, youth, and marginalized groups.

  • Provide support and guidance to community members participating in project activities.

  • Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Collect data and feedback from the community on the impact of project activities, ensuring that the information is accurately recorded and reported to the Project Officer.

  • Monitor the progress of activities in the field, identifying challenges and providing solutions in consultation with the Project Officer.

  • Prepare and submit regular field reports, including observations, successes, challenges, and recommendations for improvement.

  • Conflict Resolution:

  • Mediate conflicts and tensions within and between community groups, using appropriate conflict resolution techniques and tools.

  • Provide early warning information to the Project Officer and Project Coordinator about potential conflicts or issues that may impact the project’s objectives.

  • Work with community leaders to develop and implement local solutions to conflicts, promoting peaceful coexistence.

  • Capacity Building:

  • Identify training needs within the community and assist in the development and delivery of capacity-building initiatives.

  • Provide ongoing support and mentorship to community members and leaders involved in peace-building activities.

  • Encourage the development of local peace committees or groups that can sustain project outcomes beyond its duration.

  • Liaison with Stakeholders:

  • Maintain regular communication with local authorities, NGOs, and other stakeholders to ensure that project activities are coordinated and supported at the local level.

  • Represent the project in local meetings and forums, advocating for the needs and interests of the community.

  • Logistical Support:

  • Assist with logistical arrangements for field activities, including the organization of venues, materials, and transportation.

  • Ensure that all field activities are conducted in a safe and orderly manner, adhering to the project’s safety guidelines.

  • Other Duties:

  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Project Officer to support the successful implementation of the project.

  • Stay informed about developments in the field of peace-building and social cohesion, integrating new knowledge and practices into field activities.

    • = 35,916/= (Thirty-Five Thousand Nine Hundred Sixteen Taka Only.)
