Experience:

Organization Overview:
Banchte Shekha is a renowned non-governmental organization (NGO) in Bangladesh, established in 1976 by Dr. Angela Gomes, a prominent social worker and advocate for women’s empowerment. The name “Banchte Shekha,” meaning “Learn How to Survive,” reflects the organization’s mission to empower disadvantaged communities particularly women, children, and marginalized groups through education, skill development, and rights-based social advocacy.
Banchte Shekha is implementing a project titled “Body Talk 2” in Jashore district with financial and technical support from Liliane Fonds and Centre for Disability in Development (CDD). The project focuses on promoting Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) for children and youth with disabilities by improving their access to inclusive, accurate, and age-appropriate SRHR information and services.
Through community awareness, capacity building of service providers, and engagement with caregivers, educators, and community leaders, the project aims to address stigma, discrimination, and barriers that prevent children and youth with disabilities from exercising their rights. By fostering an inclusive and supportive environment, the initiative seeks to empower them to make informed decisions about their health and well-being and contribute to building a more equitable and accessible society.
Job Overview: The Project Officer will play a pivotal role in supporting the Project Coordinator, SRHR Training Officer, SRHR Facilitator, Case Manager, and SRHR Community Interactors in implementing the Body Talk 2 Project, which aims to promote Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) for children and youth with disabilities. The position is responsible for coordinating and managing project activities, facilitating community engagement, and strengthening the capacity of project staff, service providers, and other stakeholders to ensure the effective delivery of inclusive and rights-based SRHR interventions. Under the guidance of the Project Coordinator, the Project Officer will support the planning, organization, and facilitation of training programs that enhance the knowledge and skills of project staff, caregivers, community stakeholders, and adolescents. The role ensures that all training and educational resources are accessible, accurate, age-appropriate, and disability-inclusive.
The Project Officer will also contribute to the development and adaptation of training materials, provide mentoring to participants, and support community engagement initiatives aimed at reducing stigma and discrimination. Through these efforts, the Project Officer will strengthen the capacity of local actors to provide inclusive SRHR information and services, fostering an environment that empowers children and youth with disabilities to exercise their rights, make informed health decisions, and participate fully in their communities.
