Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Fabric Analysis: Evaluate the physical, chemical, and mechanical properties of fabrics through testing and analysis to assess quality, durability, and performance.
∎ Research and Development: Stay updated with industry trends, advancements, and innovations in fabric technology. Research to develop new materials, treatments, and processes to improve fabric performance.
∎ Quality Assurance: Establish quality standards and procedures for fabric production. Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
∎ Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including designers, engineers, suppliers, and manufacturers to develop fabric specifications and resolve technical issues.
∎ Problem-Solving: Identify and troubleshoot fabric-related issues such as defects, shrinkage, colour fading, and pilling. Implement solutions to address these issues and improve fabric quality.
∎ Product Testing: Plan and conduct performance tests on fabrics to evaluate factors such as strength, elasticity, abrasion resistance, moisture management, and flame retardancy.
∎ Supplier Management: Evaluate and select fabric suppliers based on quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. Establish strong relationships with suppliers to ensure consistent quality and timely delivery of materials.
∎ Documentation: Maintain accurate records of fabric specifications, test results, and quality assurance processes. Prepare reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
∎ Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and certifications related to fabric quality, safety, and sustainability.
∎ Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimise fabric performance, reduce costs, and minimize environmental impact through innovation and process optimization.
