Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Chemical Management: Oversee the safe usage, storage, and disposal of chemicals used in garment production to ensure environmental compliance and minimize any environmental impact.
∎ Environmental Compliance: Ensure the company complies with local and international environmental regulations (e.g., REACH, ZDHC, ISO 14001) regarding the use and disposal of hazardous chemicals in the garment manufacturing process.
∎ Chemical Inventory Control: Maintain accurate records of all chemicals used in the production process, including quantity, safety data sheets (SDS), and chemical certifications.
∎ Training & Awareness: Provide training for employees on the safe handling, use, and disposal of chemicals. Raise awareness regarding the environmental impact of chemical use.
∎ Waste Management: Develop and implement strategies for minimizing chemical waste and ensuring proper treatment and disposal methods in line with environmental guidelines.
∎ Audit and Reporting: Conduct regular audits to assess chemical usage, waste disposal practices, and compliance with environmental standards. Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for management.
∎ Sustainability Initiatives: Support and implement sustainability initiatives, including the transition to eco-friendly and non-toxic chemicals in garment production processes.
∎ Collaboration: Work closely with other departments such as Production, Quality Control, and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) to ensure that environmental policies are followed effectively.
∎ Innovation: Stay updated on the latest trends and technologies in sustainable chemicals, eco-friendly production methods, and innovations in the garment industry.
