Deputy General Manager (DGM) – Mill Operations

Company: Jabbar Jute Mills

Location: Bhairab, Bangladesh

Reports To: General Manager / Directors / Management

Job Summary

The DGM will oversee the overall day-to-day operations of the mill, including production, quality, maintenance, manpower, raw material utilization and cost control.

The role requires a senior jute industry professional capable of independently managing factory operations and improving productivity and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee overall mill operations across all shifts.

• Supervise Production, Quality Control, Mechanical, Electrical and factory support teams.

• Review and monitor daily production targets and capacity utilization.

• Ensure jute yarn and sacking products meet required buyer specifications.

• Monitor raw jute consumption, waste, moisture, batching and overall process efficiency.

• Improve machine utilization, labour productivity and production cost.

• Review machinery breakdowns and ensure preventive maintenance is implemented.

• Control manpower deployment, overtime and departmental performance.

• Identify operational bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.

• Review production, quality, maintenance and cost reports before submission to management.

• Support machinery modernization and operational improvement projects.

• Ensure factory discipline, safety and accountability among department heads.

Candidate Requirements

• Minimum 12–18 years of experience in the jute industry.

• Minimum 5 years in a senior position such as DGM, AGM, Mill Manager or Production Head.

• Strong experience in spinning, weaving and sacking operations.

• Good understanding of production planning, maintenance, quality control, manpower and factory costing.

• Proven experience managing large factory teams and multiple shifts.

• Strong leadership, analytical and problem-solving ability.

• Must be hands-on and capable of independently managing day-to-day mill operations.
