Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented 5-Axis CNC Turn-Mill Machine Operator & Programmer to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for set-up, programming, operation, precision quality control, tool management, and basic troubleshooting of complex 5-axis turn-mill machinery.
Key Responsibilities
1. Machine Setup
Set up 5-axis CNC turn-mill machines according to engineering drawings and setup sheets.
Install and accurately align chucks, collets, fixtures, and work-holding devices.
Load and set cutting tools, inserts, drills, boring bars, and auxiliary tooling.
Establish precise tool geometry, wear offsets, and perform workpiece alignment/runout checks.
2. Program Operation
Load, verify, and simulate/dry-run CNC programs prior to machining.
Make minor program adjustments and offset corrections as needed.
Safely restart machines after tool changes, mid-process interruptions, or program stops.
3. Machine Operation
Efficiently load and unload raw materials and finished components.
Execute multi-axis turning, facing, boring, threading, drilling, and milling operations.
Continuously monitor spindle load, cutting conditions, coolant flow, and chip evacuation.
Dynamically adjust speeds, feeds, and tool offsets to optimize machining efficiency.
4. Quality Control & Inspection
Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, dimensional tolerances, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
Perform first-off and ongoing production component inspections.
Proficiently use measuring tools including vernier calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, and dial indicators.
Apply offset corrections proactively to ensure parts remain within specified tolerances.
5. Tool Management
Monitor tool wear throughout production runs.
Replace, index, and reset inserts and worn cutters.
Select appropriate tooling tailored to specific workpiece materials and operations.
Maintain accurate tool-life and usage records where required.
6. Troubleshooting & Problem Solving
Identify and resolve issues such as dimensional variations, poor surface finishes, tool breakage, excessive chatter, and coolant/chip flow problems.
Implement immediate corrective actions for minor issues and escalate major machine or programming failures to the production supervisor or programmer.
7. Maintenance & Housekeeping
Check and maintain lubrication levels, coolant concentration, and system pressure.
Clean chips and clear work areas following standard 5S protocols and safety standards.
Perform routine preventive machine maintenance.
