Job Context:
∎ Job Purpose:
∎ Mitigate different legal issues relating to the field office of BRAC`s various programmes and ensure necessary legal support to the stakeholders and create a standard legal environment in the organization. Manage and supervise LC field staff and develop their capacity as well.
∎ Location: Head Office
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Prepare yearly field activities plan and set up target aligning with Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and provide necessary guideline to implement the plan accordingly.
∎ Supervise and monitor ongoing activities and provide necessary support to Divisional Lawyers and LC Lawyers through regular communication, report analysis, Case hub analysis etc.
∎ Provide necessary expert opinion on taking different legal steps and compliance issues through drafting, reviewing of legal documents, preparing legal notes aligning with up to date rules, laws and practices.
∎ Ensure proper and regular follow up of court cases and update legal database to ensure positive outcomes of cases through analyzing Reports, Case Hub and Panel Lawyer activities.
∎ Communicate with different programme and department, arrange and attend different forum, meeting etc. for smooth operating of field base legal activities.
∎ Ensure the activities and bill management of panel lawyers through updating and reviewing their activities and arranging meeting/workshop.
∎ Regular assessment of the field staff and take proper initiatives to develop their capacity through arranging attachment, training, workshop, divisional meeting and departmental meeting.
∎ Implement the management decision at the field by Divisional Lawyers and LC Lawyer and provide reports to the management on a regular basis and any other task assigned by the authority.
∎ SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES:
∎ Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme's goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
∎ Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
∎ Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Minimum 6 years of working experience as in-house legal counsel and having experience of managing a team.
