Technical Writer/ Manual Writer
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Software technical writers make user guides, setup instructions, instruction manuals, online training material, release notes, new feature documents, how-to guides, and quick reference articles
∎ Producing high-quality documentation that is appropriate for its intended audience
∎ Plans, writes, and performs other development tasks for complex documentation deliverables and projects.
∎ Develops and documents application process workflows for assigned features.
∎ Has an intricate understanding of the features of the software product(s). Understands the overall features of the product and has advanced comprehension of the application(s) to which they are assigned including the relationship to other applications.
∎ Continually and proactively gather information from software developers, designers, and product managers about new features and upcoming product changes
∎ Write accurate, organized, consistent content from scratch, including software diagrams, entity-relationship diagrams, and data library documents
∎ Collaborate cross-functionally to align product documentation with other forms of customer enablement content
∎ Monitors defect tracking for documentation defects; responds promptly to correct or reassign errors and report the outcome.
∎ Mentors and trains less experienced writers in technical communication skills.
∎ Follows best practices for documentation user experience and quality assurance and finds ways to incorporate those practices throughout the department.
∎ Prepares special reports and knowledge shares.
∎ Shows leadership skills by working as a Team Lead, project lead, or a recognized resource in a technical documentation capacity.
∎ Keeps the release coordinator informed of progress or is a release coordinator and manages projects to completion.
∎ Working with internal teams on product and documentation requirements
∎ Monitors defect tracking for documentation defects; responds promptly to correct or reassign errors and report the outcome.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at least 24 years
∎ Advanced computer literacy and advanced knowledge and use of major documentation design tools used in the department.
∎ Have a solid understanding of programming concepts and how to read and document code
∎ Have experience creating documentation in an Agile development environment
∎ Know or have experience with bug-tracking systems
∎ Can fulfill the information design, writing, and editing components of the role
∎ Can quickly learn complex concepts and technologies
∎ People and Team Development skill
∎ Self-motivated with a strong work ethic
∎ Advanced computer literacy and advanced knowledge and use of major documentation design tools used in the department.
∎ Proven working experience in technical writing of software documentation
∎ Ability to deliver high quality documentation paying attention to detail
∎ Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures
∎ Excellent written skills in English
∎ Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
∎ Basic familiarity with the SDLC and software development
