Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Textile Engineering/Textile Technology from a reputed institution.
Major in Fabric Engineering or Wet Processing will be preferred.
5–6 years of experience in Denim Fabric R&D/Development in a reputed denim textile company.
Experience in indigo dyeing, denim finishing, and fabric development will be highly preferred.
Strong knowledge of denim fabric construction, indigo dyeing, weaving, washing, and finishing processes.
Good understanding of global denim trends, sustainable denim technologies, and fashion developments.
Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills, communication and presentation skills.
Proficiency in MS Office applications, whatsapp, chatgpt.
Job Context: The Asst. Manager/ Sr. Executive – R&D (Denim Fabric Development) will be responsible for developing innovative, fashionable, and high-quality denim fabrics for international and local markets. The role involves new denim product development, wash and finish innovation, trend analysis, sustainable fabric development, and coordination with cross-functional teams to ensure successful commercialization of denim products.
Brief Job Responsibilities:
Develop new denim fabric qualities, constructions, finishes, and wash effects according to buyer requirements and global fashion trends.
Conduct research and development on denim yarn, weave design, indigo dyeing, coating, finishing, and performance enhancement techniques.
Work on innovative denim developments including stretch denim, sustainable denim, slub denim, recycled fiber denim, coated denim, and special finishes.
Coordinate with marketing and merchandising teams to understand buyer trends and develop commercially attractive denim fabrics.
Develop sample fabrics and trial productions for buyer submissions and seasonal collections.
Analyze fabric performance including GSM, shrinkage, skewness, color fastness, stretch recovery, tear strength, and hand feel.
Work closely with weaving, dyeing, finishing, washing, and quality teams to ensure developed fabrics meet required standards and customer expectations.
Research international denim fashion trends, seasonal developments, sustainable technologies, and competitor products.
Develop eco-friendly and sustainable denim products using recycled fibers, organic cotton, water-saving technologies, and sustainable finishing processes.
Troubleshoot denim development and production-related issues and provide effective technical solutions.
Maintain technical documentation including development sheets, fabric specifications, lab test reports, and approval records.
Coordinate with sourcing and procurement teams regarding yarn, dyes, chemicals, and raw material selection for new developments.
Participate in buyer meetings, technical discussions, fabric presentations, and development reviews when required.
Ensure timely completion of development activities and sample submissions according to buyer timelines.
Support continuous improvement initiatives for fabric quality, innovation, cost optimization, and production efficiency.
Collaborate with washing and finishing teams to develop unique denim looks and value-added finishes for international markets.
