Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Lead the implementation of off-farm livelihood initiatives that integrate fine arts and creative industries, ensuring alignment with project goals and objectives
∎ Develop and promote income-generating activities such as handicrafts, block boutique, nakshikantha design, and other fine arts-based enterprises
∎ Conduct training sessions, workshops, and demonstrations for artisans and community members on fine arts techniques, product design, and quality improvement
∎ Develop training materials and creative tools tailored to local contexts and community needs
∎ Provide technical guidance to artisans/beneficiaries and local partners on fine arts production, product diversification, and market-oriented design
∎ Support the adoption of innovative techniques and sustainable materials in fine arts production
∎ Work closely with artisan groups, cooperatives, and community-based organizations to foster collective action and knowledge sharing
∎ Facilitate participatory planning and decision-making processes to ensure inclusivity and ownership of off-farm livelihood initiatives
∎ Establish and strengthen market linkages for fine arts products, including local, national markets
∎ Participate exhibitions, fairs, and promotional events to showcase and sell community-produced handicraft products
∎ Monitor the progress and impact of off-farm livelihood interventions, collecting data on key performance indicators
∎ Prepare regular reports on project activities, outcomes, and challenges for submission to the management
∎ Provide technical guidance to beneficiaries and stakeholders to enhance their engagement with market systems
∎ Prepare and submit detailed field reports to the concerned authority on a regular basis or as needed
∎ Maintain clear and transparent communication with all stakeholders
∎ Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor/management to achieve project goals and objectives
∎ Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme's goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment
∎ Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action
∎ Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so
∎ The Senior Technical Officer - Off-Farm will be responsible for designing, implementing, and promoting off-farm livelihood initiatives that leverage handicrafts and creative industries to enhance income generation and economic resilience for rural communities. The role involves working closely with artisans/beneficiaries, local communities, and stakeholders to develop and market handicraft products and services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fine arts, creative industries, and community development, with a focus on sustainable livelihood creation.
