Job Context:
∎ BLAST is looking for a Research Officer for its Combating Gender Based Violence (CGBV) project which is being implemented in partnership with UN Women. The Research Officer must be a highly motivated individual with a proven track record of work on GBV, project research, reporting, and will research and report the project activities, especially the coordination of the Rape Law Reform Coalition. The Research Officer will help facilitate BLAST`s efforts to implement law and policy reform to eliminate gender discriminatory provisions and practices that hinder access to justice for GBV victims in Bangladesh.
∎ Project Description: The CGBV project aims to strengthen the law and policy framework on GBV, with special focus on sexual violence through rigorous legal research and the establishment of the Rape Law Reform Coalition, comprising of CSOs, women`s rights groups and government bodies, to facilitate discussion of GBV response and create a shared knowledge base on justice for sexual violence.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Provide assistance and support to the ongoing legal research activities of the Research Cell
∎ Conduct and help arrange and prepare for KI Is, FGDs and seminars.
∎ Analyze, compile and scan BLAST case records and reported judgments from various law reports for research purposes and prepare case studies.
∎ Fill out various templates prepared by Research Specialists in relation to analysis of cases.
∎ Prepare meeting reports of research dissemination webinars and consultations, and prepare interview transcripts for Klls.
∎ Prepare research notes highlighting key research findings, legislative gap analysis and recommendations for reform.
∎ Attend workshops and seminars at local and national level on behalf of BLAST.
Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 1 year(s) of professional work experience relating to Research and GBV related issues.
∎ Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation and organizational skills
∎ High proficiency in both written and spoken English and Bangla.
∎ Excellent understanding of issues relating to GBV (with special emphasis on sexual violence and domestic violence).
Salary:
∎ Tk. 30000 (Monthly)
∎ Costs for field work/visit will be borne by BLAST according to its policies.
