Job Context:
∎ Organization Description: BLAST is the leading national legal aid and human rights organization in Bangladesh with its key activities being legal advice,mediation and litigation including public interest litigation, advocacy and research. It focuses on ensuring the rights of those living in poverty and facing discrimination or social exclusion. It works through its Head Office in Dhaka and 19 District level offices.
∎ Position Description: BLAST is currently undertaking research project on sexual and gender based violence (SGBV). The Research Assistant will primarily be engaged in the review of relevant legislation on SGBV and reported cases on SGBV using various templates and methodologies.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Assist with ongoing legal research activities, with a particular focus on sexual and gender based violence law and cases.
∎ Conduct and help arrange and prepare for KIIs, FGDs and seminars.
∎ Analyse, compile and scan BLAST case records and reported judgments for research purposes.
∎ Conduct any tasks delegated by Research Specialists.
∎ Attend workshops and seminars at local and national level on behalf of BLAST.
∎ Assist to prepare documents as required by the BLAST management.
∎ Make occasional visits to project and fields areas for research purposes.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at least 21 years
∎ At least 1 year experience working on legal research will be highly preferred
∎ Clear knowledge of SGBV laws and research methodologies will be given preference.
∎ Experience in report writing will be given preference
Salary: Tk. 20000 (Monthly)
Compensation & Other Benefits:
∎ Weekly 2 holidays
∎ Costs in relation to field work will be borne by the organization according to its rules.
