Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in DRR/construction, or infrastructure programming, preferably in disaster-prone areas. Proven experience in preparing BOQs, construction drawings, and supervising field construction work. Experience working with local government/NGOs, and community groups.
Job Purpose
BRAC Disaster Risk Managemnet Programme (DRMP) is implementing DRR, Preparedness and Resposponse activities in different disaster prone regions in Bangladesh. The Regional Manager will implement programme activities with a coordinated way with BRAC’s internal programme, local government and other relevant stakeholders. He/She will ensure timely and efficient implementation of programme interventions and must hold the BRAC’s values and humanitarian code of conduct.
Key Responsibilities
Lead planning and implementation of DRR activities across assigned districts.
Design, budget, and supervise the construction of small infrastructure projects (e.g., latrines, stairs, houses, lightning shed and cyclone/flood shelters).
Ensure all engineering designs are disaster-resilient and follow national and organisational standards.
Train and guide field staff and community groups on DRR techniques and safe construction practices.
Implement DRR, Preparedness and Emergency Response (PER) activities on time in coordinating with respective DDMT and UDMT of BRAC.
Work closely with BRAC District Coordinators (BDCs) for smooth programme implementation
Act as the focal point for emergency response in the region.
Conduct damage and need assessment with the support of DDMT and UDMT to response quickly during disaster and any emergencies as procedure/guideline and SOP.
Organise and facilitate training, workshop at district, upazila and union level
Form youth volunteer groups and work as mentor to prepare them for future leader on disaster management
Prepare and aware LGI, community and relevant stakeholders on Forecast Based Early Action (FBA) and union and upazila level
Provide support to implement emergency response and recovery project according to the requirements
Support to develop FD6, FD7 and other documents related to NGOAB
Prepare Situation Report and other relevant repots during and after any disaster and provide support to ensure these kinds of report from affected areas
Coordinate with government, UDMC, UzDMC & DDMC for all humanitarian activities
Maintain liaison and coordination with relevant government department/ local Govt. institutions at division, district and Upazilla level; NGOs, CSOs, relevant BRAC’s Programme and other stakeholder as per requirement.
Contribute to financial operations, purchasing, accounting and office supplies.
Perform other tasks assigned by the management

Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme`s goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
