Job Context:
∎ The Role:
∎ Oxfam GB is looking for a dynamic person to work with others to support communities affected by emergencies, mobilizing them to act to protect themselves from threats to their life, health and dignity.
∎ To work closely with other departments so as PHE/Protection/ Advocacy & Policy Team to ensure integrated and coherent response.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Programme Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation:
∎ Manage associates, as well as overseeing volunteers and community workers, in setting performance objectives with your line managers, supporting team in objective setting.
∎ Accomplish the implementation of CE/PHP activities in all phases of emergency WASH, e.g. design and collection of baseline data, ensuring 2-wayscommunication with communities, design, implementation and monitoring of public health promotion actives based on communities feed backs, ensuring targeting and monitoring of NFI distribution (in kind or vouchers) based on community's preferences.
∎ Prepare work plans, weekly reports, monthly reports (5Ws), PHP tracking sheets/data base, meeting minutes Coordination minutes, and contributing in donor reports and proposal narratives and budget for PHP.
∎ Monitor disease trends and designing and implementing rapid and relevant interventions in response to possible outbreaks of cholera and/or other public health-
∎ related diseases.
∎ Design interventions for specific target groups, e.g. schools, youth groups, men, women, elderly people and people with special need.
∎ Implement the SPHERE standards in appropriate for the context.
∎ Programme approach:
∎ Support Oxfam staff to engage with communities to ensure participation mechanisms within WASH projects.
∎ Ensure a constant and ongoing context understanding, especially related to community dynamics and health risks and practices.
∎ Confirm that gender, protection, and other important cross-cutting concerns are considered in programme design, implementation, and reporting; ensure that activities reflect the needs of specific groups and individuals e.g. IDPs, Host Community, elderly people, children and people with disabilities.
∎ Documenting and sharing lessons learnt, successes or failure, and cross program exchanges with other WASH programs
∎ Co-ordination and Representation:
∎ Represent Oxfam in effective coordination with government authorities, community structures and NGOs
∎ Maximize opportunities for collaboration with local government services, humanitarian agencies, other working national and international NGOs and the Oxfam country programmed
∎ Work closely with support department (logistics, finances, HR)
Additional Requirements:
∎ Essential:
∎ At least 3 years' practical experience in appropriate hygiene promotion programmes or/and working with communities.
∎ Strong oral and written communication skills in both English/Bengali and Chattertonian language (local Language)
∎ Good analytical and decisions making skills with limited support.
∎ Computer skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
∎ Ability to work independently as well work as a team player - supporting other departments is essential
∎ Capacity to analyze information and ability to apply professional and ethical standards to data collection and analysis processes, and research
∎ Desirable:
∎ Good organizational and communication skills with international and national staff.
∎ Experience and commitment to promote equity, gender and diversity.
∎ Previous working experience with international/non-profit organizations.
∎ Experience in emergency and early recovery programmers.
∎ Well-developed interpersonal and team skills and proven ability to be flexible in demanding situations
∎ Demonstrate a commitment to humanitarian principles and values and motivate others towards them
∎ Ability to remain calm, work under pressure without losing sight of strategic objectives.
