Educational Requirements:

∎ BLAST is a leading national legal aid and human rights organization providing legal advice, mediation, and litigation services, and undertaking advocacy to ensure the rights of women, men and children living in poverty or facing discrimination/social exclusion. BLAST works through its Head Office in Dhaka and 25 District-level Offices with 2600+ panel lawyers and 100+partner organizations.
∎ Position Description: BLAST is looking for a Policy Analyst/Advocacy specialist for its Legal Empowerment and Gender Diversity (LEGD) project. The Policy Analyst/Advocacy specialist (LEGD Project) must be a highly motivated individual with a proven track record of work on LEGD project management and donor reporting, and will coordinate and lead the project activities. The Policy Analyst/Advocacy specialist (LEGD Project) will help facilitate BLAST’s efforts to implement law and policy reform to eliminate gender discriminatory provisions and practices that hinder access to justice for LEGD victims in Bangladesh.
∎ Job Summary: You will be responsible for policy and advocacy activities for the whole of BLAST, focusing on providing legal aid to marginalized communities, national and International strategies. You will design and implement strategies and plans on advocacy on rights and justice, working closely with legal professionals, experts and national and international organisations and the media and civil society.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ 1. Develop strategies to keep national and international organisations engaged in advocacy and research efforts.
∎ 2. Develop organizational policy relating to the advocacy activities of BLAST;
∎ 3. Engage in relevant stakeholders
∎ 4. Initiate advocacy activities and develop plans for events including workshops, seminars, international conferences, policy dialogue, webinars etc.
∎ 5. Identify issues and frame strategies for advocacy campaigns with a view to bringing changes in legislative policies and laws affecting the poor and women;
∎ 6. Maintain national and international network
∎ 7. Hold regional events eg. workshops/meetings/seminars in collaboration with International/Regional Organisations
∎ 8. Liaise with different development agencies and other partners and donors
∎ 9. Prepare annual report and other reports and briefings for donors concerning advocacy and policy changes

∎ Additional Duties: Supervise various projects with respect to their advocacy and policy components,
∎ Accountability: Administratively and functionally accountable to the Honorary Executive Director
