Job Context:
∎ About Terre des hommes:
∎ Terre des hommes Foundation (Tdh) is the leading Swiss INGO focusing on child rights. It is active in more than 30 countries with development and emergency projects. Tdh interventions are focused on the three programs: Health, Migration and Access to Justice particularly for vulnerable children. Tdh Foundation has a transversal approach towards Child Protection programming and it cuts across all the thematic areas while also has been considered as one of the key value propositions in its business model. The Child Protection expertise within Tdh Foundation aims to develop high quality, evidence-based knowledge and know-how adapted to fragile contexts, conflict zones, and development to improve the protection of children`s rights and their right to protection from all forms of violence (art 19, 34 CRC) in collaboration with and in support of the three core programs. The Tdh Foundation global strategy 2021-2024 specifies that the will have demonstrated that rights-based participation, empowerment, and active involvement of children and communities in defining and implementing responses are essential to improve child protection.
∎ Context:
∎ Tdh is working in Bangladesh since 1974, with operations in Kurigram district, Dhaka district and Cox Bazaar district. Currently, Tdh is implementing programs on Health, Access to Justice (social cohesion and conflict resolution) and Migration, integrated by the transversal expertise WASH and Child protection. Tdh interventions in Bangladesh are both in development and emergency context.
∎ Following the massive displacement of more than 800,000 people into Bangladesh since the end of August 2017, Tdh has put in place an important emergency response plan to provide relief to the Rohingya refugees, notably on Health, WASH, Child Protection and Social cohesion. Alongside, Tdh is implementing the CLARISSA project in Dhaka slums aiming to build a strong evidence base and generate innovative solutions to the worst forms of child labour (WFCL) and will explore how to take these solutions to scale.
∎ Tdh in Bangladesh has started the process of integration of emergency and development approaches and aims to capitalize on its institutional learning for further programme expansion and to create critical pathways for evidence-based advocacy.
∎ Tdh`s WASH project is now working in Cox`s Bazar district to increase access to quality WASH services in Rohingya camps and surrounding host communities, where the main activities are faecal sludge management, waste management, hygiene promotion activities (conducting meetings, sessions, campaigns, visiting of beneficiaries HHs, NFI distribution, emergency WASH assistance, day celebrations) through community participation and awareness raising in constructing and operating and maintaining inclusive WASH facilities. In the near future, the Tdh WASH project will set up a plastic recycling plant to properly manage plastic waste, and upgrade the FSM plant, besides, there are plans to expand the WASH project beyond Cox`s Bazar.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Daily operations of the plastics recycling plant will operate directly under his/her initiative.
∎ Regular production of the recycled material reprocessing operation in the plant, as well as ensuring necessary safety materials/equipment (first aid box, fire extinguisher etc.).
∎ Ensure that plant operation purpose all steps are following as per the operational guidelines.
∎ Manage all plastics waste management by the maximum of production, as well as need to know field needs, and keep all records properly at office.
∎ Supervise all volunteers/DWs work as per their work plan, as well as ensure their PPE and keep updated volunteers and daily workers information.
∎ Update the line manager in timely (by oral/email/teams) on existing situations, and where support is needed.
∎ Supervise and monitor that all the plastic waste is cleaned properly by the volunteers/DWs.
∎ Ensure Do No Harm, Sphere guideline and CHS are introduced in community engagement.
∎ To distribute production materials regularly coordinate with the WASH team members and other stakeholders in the field.
∎ Look after the proper management of plastics recycling plant and its regular operation & maintenance (shredder machine, molding machine and making machine).
∎ To prepare necessary reports use quantitative data, and after completion preserve properly soft and hard documents at office.
∎ Based on the field situation develop necessary IEC material in the assigned area.
∎ Participate in the different meetings, training, orientation, and workshop in the sector/organization.
∎ Technical Support and Facilitation
∎ Prepare plastics recycling plant Manual covering different features of the plant and how it operates, necessary SOP (standard operating procedures), and tools (formats) for monitoring and following performance as per project/office needs.
∎ Operate the plastic recycling plant ensuring optimal performance and optimal outcomes as per the needs of the project.
∎ Ensure that the plant is always in its best performance status and is maintained regularly avoiding breakdowns to the minimum. Maintain records of all such preventive maintenance tasks performed (time, resources and efforts used).
∎ Ensure that when the plant breaks downs, we are prepared to repair bringing it back in operation in the least possible time. Maintain records of all the breakdowns; time is taken to bring back the plant to operational status; and the cost, materials and efforts spent in each repair work.
∎ Ensure maintenance of volunteers/DW’s payment-related documents
∎ Organize orientation and training for the plastics recycling volunteers/DWs
∎ Facilatate sectoral/government office representative during field visit
∎ Planning and Reporting
∎ Prepare an effective work plan for the plastics recycling production activities purpose and prioritize work based on the field need
∎ Reporting to management on implementation, and progress regularly (oral and e-mail) on a weekly and monthly/quarterly basis
∎ Maintain properly plant materials and product stock register, and participate in the weekly & monthly staff meeting
∎ Prepare and submit required regular plastics recycling activity related and need basis report
∎ Coordination and Networking
∎ Establish a good working relationships with WASH team members, Tdh’s respective line department, concerned authorities and other stakeholders (if needed)
∎ Contact with plastic waste recycling partners and scrap dealers to manage plastic waste
∎ As required, participate in different sector coordination meetings
∎ As requested by the line manager, liaise with Government and other relevant actors
∎ Learning, Training and Capacity building
∎ Strong ability to manage plastics recycling plant and to function production work of plastics recycling, as well as conduct necessary training and orientation on safety and PPE related
∎ Organize learning-sharing meeting/sessions within the team, and among stakeholders
∎ Volunteers and DWs management
∎ Security and Child Safety
∎ Ensure that the suppliers ensure the safety of their employees and the community people specially for children
∎ Ensure staffs visibility and safety security (PPE) materials at the field
∎ Other tasks
∎ Accept and take up new responsibilities or tasks if asked by the line manager

Additional Requirements:
