Responsibilities & Context:

Strategy and Development

• Overall responsibility for manufacturing activities in the unit

• Create and implement best practice manufacturing vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve business performance

• Ensure that manufacturing strategies and processes are in place to meet business objectives and operational needs in terms of price, quality and delivery targets and which enables the company to function and compete effectively in the market

• Evaluate the challenges faced by the business and take action to mitigate risks and develop opportunities

• Contribute to overall business strategy and annual budget process

• Take ownership of the manufacturing policy, guidelines and any associated documents

• Initiate and develop creative and innovative manufacturing processes

• Coordinate team activities to optimize cost performance of the plant through capital investment programmes, optimizing operating working capital usage and minimizing waste through the development of a continuous improvement culture encompassing lean principles and clear strategic development

• Five-year plans to be prepared and to be modified in case of substantial increase in production, establishment of new unit or due to any factor considerably affecting forward planning.

• Maintaining up to date charts of past year performances and progress. Regular growth of business and profitability must always be aimed at.

Production Planning & Quality Management

• Responsible for preparation of long-range plans and seasonal estimates.

• Procurement of materials of standard quality and maintenance of stock in accordance with approved financial plans for the unit.

• Creation of proper production plan on the basis of seasonal estimates must be clearly defined. Any charges made during monthly production conferences must be immediately incorporated in the production plan.

• Maintenance/improvement of quality of all products manufactured/procured.

• Ensure timely finalization of shoe line by continuous and effective product development activity to ensure to be always first in the market, efficient operation to meet all market requirements.

• To help in continuous modernization of associate units with new proposals and introduction of machines.

• To ensure adherence to minimum quality specifications by all associate units.

• To actively participate in research and development operation.

• Organize monthly inventory in all units to make that the units run with minimum raw material.

• Visit shops/depots/sales offices for proper feedback on quality, market trend, supply schedule etc. 

• To control consumption of material as per approved costing.

• Take corrective action where the achievements are below estimates.

• Manage the accurate and on-time delivery of products as per orders.

Inventory Management

• Carry out spot checks of the inventory regularly.

• Recapitulation of difference, if any, must be submitted be controlling department immediately after completion of inventory for steps.

Environmental Health & Safety

• Review environmental strategies that impact on future ways of operating and ensure implementation where possible.

• Review the use of technological systems that support a more environmentally friendly approach

• Review opportunities to be as environmentally friendly as possible

• All policies should be periodically scrutinized to ascertain whether fires and other risks are adequately covered. 

• Plan and execute maintenance activity to ensure plant is kept safe and compliant

• Ensure that Environmental, Health and Safety, manufacturing and quality standards and procedures are adhered to
