Job Responsibilities:
∎ Under the direct supervision of the Senior External Relations Officer, and overall supervision of the Senior Coordinator in Cox's Bazar, the National Communications and Public Information Officer will be responsible for supporting the management of the media and communication portfolio of the ISCG Secretariat, the coordination body of the Rohingya refugee response
∎ The National Comms/PI Officer will focus in particular on management of and engagement with national media, as well as day to day communications and public information related functions. S/he will support the Secretariat in the overall coordination of communications, media and public information focal points across the response.
∎ The incumbent will be assigned to the following tasks:
∎ 1. Draft for review press releases, key messages and human-interest stories as required to highlight response achievements by diverse actors and by the response as a whole and ensure visibility of the response.
∎ 2. Maintain ISCG's social media platforms in line with the social media strategy and current trends. Serve as community manager producing and curating content that reflects communications priorities and key messages and speaks effectively to the audience. Monitor and moderate comments on social media posts, intervening as appropriate to answer questions.
∎ 3. Undertake regular visits to the field to gather stories and document events for social media and web site.
∎ 4. Create and upload content for ISCG Secretariat online communications. This includes social media feeds and web stories.
∎ 5. Create quality templates for communications materials and ensure consistent ISCG branding is upheld.
∎ 6. Support as required communication strategy planning and implementation in support of the Senior External Relations Officer and Senior Management.
∎ 7. Monitor relevant national media reporting, both electronic and print; and prepare and circulate national media news briefs on daily basis and analyses as requested.
∎ 8. Assist on engagement with media, in particular national media, and remain a point of contact for national media on behalf of the ISCG Secretariat and respond to their queries. Act as spokesperson for national media in close coordination with the supervisor.
∎ 9. Translate media, social media posts and other texts to and from English and Bangla as requested.
∎ 10. Draft speeches, update, messages and presentations for media-related matters as requested.
∎ 11. Maintain and manage ISCG Secretariat audiovisual bank with strong metadata, provide photos and videos for ISCG Secretariat products. Collect, caption and catalogue audiovisual material with checks for copyrights.
∎ 12. Undertake tasks in support of the Senior External Relations Officer related to the Communications Group, including taking minutes, preparing and sharing materials, arranging venues, ensuring relevant communications, researching policy issues and any other tasks as required.
∎ 13. Support the organization of public information events, to raise visibility of ISCG and the Rohingya response, including anniversaries, UN Days and campaigns; arrange logistics, engage media, ensure relevant communications and reporting as necessary.
∎ 14. Contribute to the production of information material for public awareness campaigns and for the preparation of in-house bulletins, newsletters and information kits by contributing to articles, reports and other information gathered from various sources; liaise with printers concerning brochures and publications published by the office
∎ 15. Provide other tasks that may be assigned by the supervisor.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Minimum three years of experience working with an international organization, UN agency or NGO in communications/PR related work with good knowledge of humanitarian operations in the field (minimum two if holding a Master's degree or higher).
∎ Work experience liaising with Bangladeshi media, and with donor and international communities.
∎ Excellent command of English and strong command of humanitarian and development terminology in English and Bangla.
∎ Competent use of social media technology.
∎ Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
∎ Good drafting and editing skills.
∎ Strong strategic and creative thinking.
∎ Ability to work effectively, harmoniously, and collegially in a multi-cultural environment.
∎ Flexibility and availability to perform multitask duties, and to demonstrate initiative.
∎ Photography and photo editing skills are an asset.
∎ Knowledge of Rohingya language is an asset.
