Experience:
Bachelor’s/Master’s in Accounting, Finance, or related field from a reputed university.
Cost Accountant from ICMAB – ACMA / FCMA will get preference.
Experience in costing / management accounting / production cost control in a manufacturing organization.
Strong hands-on experience in factory/plant environment is highly preferred.
Scope of the Role
This position will primarily cover:
Production & operation-related costs, such as:
Direct & indirect labor cost
Machine running cost (depreciation, repairs & maintenance, spares)
Utilities (electricity, gas, water, steam, compressed air, etc.)
Factory overheads (supervision, security, admin within factory, etc.)
Wastage, rework, downtime cost, overtime, idle time, etc.
This position will not be directly responsible for:
Material purchase price negotiation
Material price variance due to supplier rate changes
Procurement-related costing. (However, coordination with the materials team may be required for information sharing.)
1. Production Cost Analysis
Analyze department-wise / line-wise / machine-wise / batch-wise production cost.
Calculate and monitor conversion cost per unit (excluding material cost).
Track labor productivity: output per man-hour, overtime vs. normal time, idle time.
Analyze machine utilization, capacity utilization, and downtime impact on cost.
Evaluate utility consumption per unit of production and highlight abnormal usage.
2. Cost Control & Efficiency Improvement
Develop standard norms for:
Manpower per line / shift
Machine hours and capacity utilization
Utilities consumption standards
Overhead allocation basis
Compare standard vs actual and report variances with root cause analysis.
Identify cost-saving opportunities in production processes and support implementation.
Work with Production/Operations to reduce wastage, rework, and non-value-added activities.
3. Budgeting & Operational Planning
Prepare production cost budgets (labor, utilities, overheads) in coordination with Operations.
Monitor actual production costs against budgets and highlight deviations.
Support management with scenario analysis (e.g., impact of shift changes, overtime policy, new machine addition).
4. MIS & Reporting
Prepare regular MIS reports on:
Line-wise / product-wise conversion cost
Labor cost, overtime analysis
Utility cost trends and variances
Downtime and its cost impact
Present monthly dashboards to management with key insights and recommendations.
5. Process & Internal Control
Ensure proper cost allocation of overheads to production cost centers.
Strengthen internal controls over production-related expenses and approvals.
Support internal and external auditors with production cost related schedules and explanations.
6. Cross-functional Coordination
Work closely with Production, Maintenance, HR (for manpower & overtime), Utility/Engineering, and Factory Admin.
Conduct training sessions with production supervisors on cost awareness and Efficiency.
