Education:
    • Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Textile Engineering
  • B.Sc. in Textile Engineering (specialization in Wet Processing / Yarn Technology preferred).

  • Additional training or certification in textile testing, ZDHC, or chemical management will be an added advantage.

Additional Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 years in a managerial/supervisory position.

  • Experience working with European Brands (C&A, BESTSELLER, INDITEX, CELIO) & USA Brands is highly preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of sweater yarn types, dyeing, and wash behavior.

  • In-depth understanding of buyer standards:

    • European Brands such as C&A/CELIO/CAMAIEU/PWT/LC Waikiki: Environmental, chemical, color continuity protocols, Product safety, RSL/MRSL compliance, and wash consistency, Sustainability focus (Higg FEM, ZDHC, waste management).

    • USA BRANDS: familiar with USA brands.

    • Familiarity with ISO, AATCC, and ASTM testing methods.

  • Strong data analysis, reporting, and root cause problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and coordination with QA, Production, and Merchandising.

  • Proficient in MS Excel, ERP systems, and lab management software.



Responsibilities & Context:

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Manager - Lab & Wash in a 100% Export-Oriented Sweater Manufacturing Factory.

To lead and manage all laboratory and washing operations within the sweater division, ensuring consistent product quality, accurate test results, timely shade approvals, and full compliance with international buyer standards (including all our existing brands such as C&A, CELIO, CAMAIEU, LC WAIKIKI, PWT). The role supports product development, bulk execution, and sustainability initiatives to meet customer expectations and company objectives.

Job location will be Salna, Gazipur.

  • Laboratory Management & Color Approval:

    • Oversee all physical and chemical testing activities for yarn, fabric, and finished garments.

    • Ensure the color accuracy of lab dip submissions and bulk shade approvals for all buyers.

    • Maintain color consistency using lightbox evaluation under D65, TL84, and a lighting condition.

    • Supervise calibration, maintenance, and record keeping for all lab testing equipment.

    • Develop and standardize internal lab procedures following ISO, AATCC, and buyer-specific methods.

    • Ensure the lab maintains buyer accreditation (e.g., C&A approved lab setup).

  • Washing & Finishing Operations:

    • Plan, execute, and control all sweater washing processes, including enzyme, softener, silicon, and special effects.

    • Standardize wash recipes for different yarn blends (cotton, viscose, nylon, wool, acrylic, etc.).

    • Work closely with production and QA teams to ensure the required hand feel, shrinkage, and appearance.

    • Evaluate new finishes and washes requested by buyers for sample development.

    • Control chemical usage and ensure ZDHC MRSL, RSL, and wastewater compliance.

    • Maintain coordination with the ETP (Effluent Treatment Plant) and chemical supplier sustainability programs.

  • Testing & Compliance:

    • Ensure all in-house and third-party testing (SGS, ITS, BV, Intertek) meet buyer performance requirements.

    • Keep updated with buyer test protocols and communicate changes to the technical and merchandising teams.

    • Ensure documentation and traceability of all test reports, approvals, and chemical data sheets (MSDS).

    • Monitor compliance with Higg FEM, ZDHC, and related sustainability audits.

  • Product Development Support:

    • Provide technical feedback to merchandising and R&D teams during product development.

    • Approve new yarns, trims, and accessories from a technical and performance perspective.

    • Support the sample and design team in achieving the right color, texture, and hand feel per buyer expectations.

    • Maintain close communication with the buyer’s lab/technical team for any clarification or approval process.

  • Team Leadership & Training:

    • Lead, guide, and train the lab and wash teams to ensure accuracy, safety, and efficiency.

    • Develop technical competency through continuous training and performance evaluation.

    • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and cross-functional teamwork.

  • Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

    • On-time lab dip and shade approval rate.

    • Wash and test first-pass approval percentage.

    • Reduction in shade variation/rejection percentage.

    • Buyer audit rating (lab and wash section).

    • Compliance status (ZDHC, RSL, wastewater test).

    • Team training and skill improvement records.

  • Work Environment:

    • Work closely with lab technicians, wash operators, QA, merchandising, and production teams.

    • Must ensure workplace safety, PPE compliance, and chemical handling standards.

    • Regular interaction with buyer representatives and third-party auditors.
