Job Context:
∎ BLAST is a leading national legal aid and human rights organization providing legal advice, mediation, and litigation services, and undertaking advocacy to ensure the rights of women, men, and children living in poverty or facing discrimination/social exclusion. BLAST works through its Head Office in Dhaka and 19 District-level Offices with 2500+ panel lawyers and 100+partner organizations.
∎ This position will assist the Project Coordinator to handle legal matters in the project areas. S/he will work closely with the clients/beneficiaries of BLAST. S/he will assist the clients/beneficiaries in legal issues regularly. The incumbent will manage the client`s legal files/documents properly and produce those as per need as and when required. S/he will maintain register and case diary regularly and assist Panel Lawyers to deal with cases for BLAST clients. Additionally, the person will be responsible to do any other tasks assigned by the management.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Interview the clients and record their applications.
∎ Check and maintain files, registers, and case diary regarding cases as per guidelines.
∎ Scrutinize the case paper and analyze the merit of the case as per guidelines.
∎ Maintain regular contact with clients/beneficiaries.
∎ Repair the list of clients, identifying and communicating with the clients, preparing background documents, and disseminating information to the concerns.
∎ Assist/conduct mediation meetings as and when necessary at the community level.
∎ Maintain good communication with the clients at the community level and take initiatives to resolve any legal disputes.
∎ Raise concern on legal matters and if necessary then refer cases to the Panel Lawyers.
∎ Maintain records of engaged Panel Lawyers.
∎ Prepare monthly/quarterly/half-yearly/yearly legal statements/reports regarding applications received, mediation, and case studies as per guidelines.
∎ Keeping accurate data on managing cases and updates the Case Management System (CMS) on regular basis.
∎ Conduct/organize/attend meetings, workshops, seminars, and training courses.
∎ Perform all other duties as and when required by the authority.
Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 3 years experience in community fieldwork.
∎ Experience in handling different cases and dealing with clients/beneficiaries at the community level.
∎ Experience in managing case documents properly.
∎ An applicant who has earlier working experiences/currently working at Rohingya Crisis will be given preferences.
∎ Good skill in speaking/reading/writing in Bangla and English. Understanding the Rohingya language will be an added advantage.
∎ Good computer knowledge especially in MS Word and Excel. Also should be good in email communication.

Salary:
∎ Tk. 45000 (Monthly)
∎ Costs for fieldwork/visit will be borne by BLAST according to its policies.
