Accounting and Reconciliation: Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping, bank/cash reconciliation, loan portfolio accounting, and savings liability accounting.
MS Excel: Advanced proficiency including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, Power Query, and working with large datasets; VBA/macros is an added advantage.
Microfinance Knowledge: Understanding of microfinance operations, portfolio at risk (PAR), repayment rates, operational self-sufficiency (OSS), and financial self-sufficiency (FSS).
Attention to Detail: Ability to spot errors, inconsistencies, and anomalies in large volumes of financial and operational data.
Integrity and Confidentiality: High ethical standards in handling sensitive financial and client data.

Job Context: The Finance Officer is responsible for ensuring that financial and operational data generated at branch and field levels are accurate, complete, consistent, and reconciled among operational, accounts, HR, and other modules. The role verifies transactional data through desk-based reconciliation and field visits, prepares validated datasets for financial reporting and business analytics, and supports the timely preparation and submission of periodic financial and management reports. The officer is expected to work closely with the Assistant Director (Finance & MIS) and reports to the Joint Director (Finance & MIS) to strengthen data integrity, financial control, and compliance reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Cross-check branch-level operational data with the central core system to identify mismatches, omissions, duplicate entries, or unauthorized transactions.
Cross-check central core system-level financial and non-financial data among modules to identify mismatches, omissions, etc.
Investigate reconciling items, identify root causes, and coordinate with branch staff, IT/MIS, and Accounts to resolve discrepancies within agreed timelines.
Ensure all verification and reconciliation activities comply with ASA MFI policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
Coordinate with branch managers and field officers to resolve data discrepancies and improve reporting accuracy.
Maintain complete reconciliation logs and supporting schedules for audit and management review.
Assist in consolidating branch and central-level data for central financial and regulatory reporting, and ensure submission deadlines are met.
Maintain an organized archive of reports and source data for audit and compliance purposes.
Assist external auditors by providing requested documentation, reconciliations, and explanations.
In addition, perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Management or authority.
The probationary period will be 1 (one) year long. After successfully completing the probationary period, the employee will be placed on the regular ASA pay scale.
