Job Context

The Fabric Technical Manager holds the accountability for fabric-related decisions, risks, and performance outcomes. The incumbent will also be responsible for providing strong leadership to the entire fabric technical team, ensuring fabrics are sourced, developed, approved, and bulk-produced right first time, in strict adherence to buyer requirements, ZXY SOPs, and sustainability standards.

This position requires deep, hands-on fabric technical expertise, decisive leadership, and the ability to drive disciplined execution across teams, mills, and factories. The Fabric Technical Manager is accountable for bulk fabric risk prevention, technical governance, supplier capability development, and people performance.

Job Responsibilities

• Act as the final fabric technical authority, accountable for all fabric-related technical decisions from development through bulk production.

• Establish and enforce fabric technical governance aligned with company standards and buyer manuals, ensuring disciplined execution and risk-controlled approvals.

• Own bulk fabric risk management, proactively identifying, mitigating, and eliminating risks related to new fabrics, mills, processes, and performance requirements.

• Ensure no fabric proceeds to bulk without full technical closure, documented approvals, and controlled deviations.

• Lead root cause analysis for bulk failures, claims, or buyer escalations and implement permanent corrective and preventive actions across suppliers and internal teams.

• Govern all fabric development activities to ensure buyer aesthetic, functional, and performance expectations are technically feasible and consistently achieved.

• Lead fabric supplier and mill technical management, including onboarding, audits, capability development, and performance accountability through KPIs.

• Drive fabric quality performance through data-driven dashboards, lab trend analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives focused on first-time-right approvals and bulk consistency.

• Provide hands-on technical leadership in complex, high-risk, or strategic fabric developments.

• Lead, mentor, and performance-manage the fabric technical team, building strong technical capability, ownership, and decision-making confidence.

• Collaborate closely with Design, Product Development, Sourcing, QA, Laboratory, Sustainability, and Commercial teams to deliver technically sound fabric solutions.

• Represent the organization as the senior fabric technical expert in buyer meetings, audits, and technical discussions, balancing quality, cost, speed, and sustainability.
