Educational Requirements:
∎ Bachelor or Masters Degree in Laws from reputed local or foreign university followed by Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) with concentration in Code of Civil & Criminal Procedure, Evidence Act, Contract Act, Land laws and Law of Inheritance, Labor law, Other relevant laws of the land, Civil and Commercial mediation. Professionally enrolled as an advocate.

Job Context:
∎ The position will lead the BRAC legal & Compliance department and will be responsible for the legal affairs of the entire organisation. This role includes overseeing delivery of legal services and resource to accomplish goals, strategies and priorities of BRAC. This position will also responsible for developing and leading legal strategy to promote and protect the BRAC`s matters.
∎ Job Location: BRAC Head Office

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Set the strategy and goals for the Legal team in alignment with the larger organisational goals.
∎ Lead the process of conducting periodic review and audit of policies and procedures to ensure that remain relevant and updated in line with regulatory changes.
∎ Communicate and educate all staff on new developments in regulatory compliance and legal aspects.
∎ Maintaining proper corporate interactions with the relevant Govt. offices, Judiciary and Anti-Corruption Commission, different regulatory authority etc.
∎ Provide legal advices to Executive Director, Directors and other senior management of BRAC in relation to operational activities.
∎ Ensure preparation & implementation of annual operating Plan (AOP) of L&C department in line with organisation priorities and strategic direction.
∎ Identify the legal risk, operational risk, keep the management informed and take steps accordingly.
∎ Oversee & monitoring staff cases, high valued & sensitive cases pending with different courts.
∎ Oversee the operational relationships with other parties like High Court/ Supreme Court Lawyers for High Valued and sensitive cases.
∎ Negotiate & vetting legal contracts with business partners, including equipment procurement, service contracts and software license.
∎ Oversee litigation & compliance issues related to land and relevant matters.
∎ Ensure to analyse all reports from different wings and take necessary steps accordingly.
∎ Communicate, attend and conduct various meetings with concerned Programme managements towards resolution of legal issues.

Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 10 years of experience after post-qualification including significant professional experience in practice as a Barrister, Solicitor or as an in-house legal counsel.
∎ Review progress to enhance learning & improve management
∎ Identifying areas to engage experts and ensuring use of new knowledge
∎ Initiating new interventions
∎ Capacity building of team
∎ Building synergy & extending partnership

Salary: Negotiable
