• Proficient in STAAD.Pro, ETABS, SAP, Tekla Structures, AutoCAD, and MS Office.

• Strong knowledge of BNBC, AISC, BS, IS, Eurocode and their application.

• Capable of leading teams, mentoring staff, and coordinating with project stakeholders.

• Skilled in preparing design calculations, BOQs, and technical documentation for large-scale projects.

Job Context

Meghna Group of Industries (MGI), one of the largest and most diversified industrial conglomerates in Bangladesh, is seeking a highly qualified and experienced professional for the position of Deputy General Manager (DGM) – Structural Design, Steel Structure. The incumbent will be responsible for leading, reviewing, and supervising all activities related to the design and detailing of steel structures, ensuring technical soundness, cost-effectiveness, and full compliance with relevant design standards and project requirements.

Job Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the structural design, detailing, and analysis of steel structures for industrial, commercial, and high-rise projects to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective design solutions.

• Develop and review design calculations, load analyses, member sizing, and connection details using recognized structural design software to ensure technical accuracy and structural reliability.

• Review and approve fabrication, shop, and erection drawings to confirm alignment with design intent, structural safety, and established quality standards.

• Ensure that all structural designs conform to applicable national and international codes and standards (BNBC, AISC, BS, IS, Eurocode) to maintain regulatory compliance and design integrity.

• Provide technical leadership and guidance to project teams, consultants, and contractors to resolve design-related issues and facilitate smooth project execution.

• Conduct technical evaluations of structural systems, materials, and fabrication methods to optimize performance, safety, and cost efficiency.

• Supervise and mentor junior engineers and drafting personnel to enhance team capability and ensure timely delivery of quality design outputs.

• Collaborate with procurement, project management, and construction teams in preparing technical specifications, BOQs, and bid evaluations to support accurate estimation and effective project planning.

• Prepare and maintain comprehensive design documentation, calculation reports, and approval records to ensure traceability and adherence to project standards.

• Perform site visits and inspections to verify design implementation and ensure structural integrity during execution.
