Job Context:

∎ Reported to : Project Manager and OKUP Management
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Develop and ensure implementation of the project's communications plan including work-plans, campaigns, materials, and events to target stakeholders and audiences
∎ Formulate and pursue advocacy and policy positions and engage with the public in order to formulate new and creative ways to demand change and achieve OKUP policy and advocacy goals
∎ Ensure production of a diverse range of information including audio/visual communications as needed and timely dissemination of those products through the right media
∎ Develop news-worthy messages, organize press events, handle interview requests, enquiries and liaise with media to generate news reports, public awareness and media coverage on project interventions
∎ Maintain a year-round professional interaction with media and other important stakeholders, such as government, experts, CSOs and brief them regularly on important initiatives of OKUP
∎ Follow national and international media reporting on migration, human trafficking, slavery and relevant issues on a regular basis, maintain a database of all links, and prepare an analysis report on a quarterly basis
∎ Prepare quarterly newsletter on the projects and OKUP interventions and overall developments on migration, human trafficking and slavery issues nationally and globally
∎ Produce digital content (stories, photos, blogs, videos) on OKUP's interventions, impacts of interventions, significant news on migration, human trafficking etc. to be used on the OKUP website and social media;
∎ Collaborate intensively with colleagues across OKUP on researching, preparing fact-checking, editing, and producing professional communications materials
∎ Support to colleagues in identification, documenting and drafting of best practices and lessons learned, and produce the contents for public interests
∎ Organize internal and external networks or communities of practice
∎ Create and maintain internal system, including contact lists, diaries of upcoming events and opportunities in which OKUP can actively participate at local, national and regional/ international level
∎ Represent OKUP when and where necessary;
∎ Ensure high standards in financial and logistics management to meet accountability and transparency;
∎ This list of duties and responsibilities is by no means exhaustive and the post holder may be required to undertake other relevant and appropriate duties as required
Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 5 years working experience with any reputed national or international organization preferably in communication and advocacy roles
∎ Ability to communicate complex materials to diverse audiences, often including images, audio, video, data analysis etc.
∎ Experience with Graphic design, Communication tools, web design is desirable
∎ Newswriting, Op-ed-writing, headline-writing, press release writing and editing skills
∎ Strong interpersonal skills in liaising, communicating and engaging with colleagues and external audiences
∎ Ability to think "out of the box"; takes an interest in new ideas and new ways of doing things;
∎ Pro-activeness and leadership capacity, extrovert and ability to work with diverse team
∎ Excellent oral and written skills in English and Bangla
∎ Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
