KNOWLEDGE:

  • Needs experience and skills in working with leaders and influencers in the community

  • Patient, persuasive and have the confidence and experience needed to be taken seriously by leaders

  • Needs to understand community dynamics and how power flows through the community and need to be willing to let the SASA! Together community leaders be in the spotlight

  • Deep knowledge on Violence against women (VAW) and Intimate Partner Violence (IPV)

  • Knowledge on basic Gender Based Violence, SASA! Together & GBV Prevention activities

SKILLS:

  • Leadership skills and supervisory experience, including the ability to develop team performance

  • Fluency in Chittagong Local Language

Responsibilities & Context:

BRAC is an international development organisation founded in Bangladesh in 1972 that partners globally with over 100 million people living with inequality and poverty to create opportunities to realise their potential.

This role will be responsible for implementing context-sensitive strategies, mainly SASA! Together four phases in camp level. In addition, provide direct input on program development in all relevant projects, including GBV prevention, risk mitigation, empowerment of women, capacity building and coordination related activities.

  • Oversee and support all aspects of the SASA! Together methodology for community leader and community activist

  • Work and engage community leaders and activist to prevent violence against women through SASA! Together methodology

  • Conduct Monthly Meeting with SASA! Together Activists every month

  • Facilitate Literacy & Numeracy Session with SASA! Together Activists & Caregiver of Girl Shine

  • Facilitate training on the SASA! Together based on training modules

  • Review and provide feedback (verbal and written) on adaptations of SASA! Together methodologies

  • Mobilize the activists to engage them in the SASA! Together project through coaching session, regular one to one meeting and follow up

  • Evaluate the community activists through activity observation form, KOBO tools and plan for their capacity building

  • Provide Weekly & Monthly report in KOBO template

  • Regularly provide Community Change Tracker and Observation report on KOBO

  • Maintain Documentation of daily session observation, monthly meeting, training data in the register book

  • Ensure proper implementation of the prevention activities in the block level. Beside this refer cases to the case management team by ensuring proper channel

  • Provide support in cash disbursement and work in a collaborative way to accomplish the cash monitoring and cash disbursement properly in the field

  • Provide training to the GBV and Non-GBV actors and Religious leaders/Majhi and others

  • Assessment, work plan, monthly report an take all program related approval from Camp in Charge

Safeguarding:

  • Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme's goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment

  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action

  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so
