Demonstrated experience working with loan portfolio data, savings products, or core banking systems.
Hands-on experience building dashboards and analytical reports for management.
Technical Skills
Advanced Excel: pivot tables, Power Query, complex formulas, macros/VBA is an advantage.
SQL: ability to write complex queries for data extraction and manipulation from relational databases.
Statistical/Programming Tools: Proficiency in at least one of R, Python, Stata, SPSS, or similar for data analysis and modeling.
Data Visualization: Strong proficiency in Power BI and/or Tableau; ability to design intuitive and interactive dashboards.
Database/ETL Knowledge: Familiarity with data warehouse concepts, ETL processes, and relational database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL).
Machine Learning: Practical knowledge of regression, classification, clustering, decision trees, random forests, gradient boosting, and model evaluation metrics is strongly desired.
Understanding of Microfinance KPIs: Knowledge of portfolio at risk (PAR), loan loss provisioning, write-off, repayment rate, operational self-sufficiency (OSS), financial self-sufficiency (FSS), and other industry metrics.

Job Context: The Business Analytics Officer is responsible for transforming raw operational, financial, and client data into actionable insights that support strategic and operational decision-making across ASA MFI. The role supports portfolio quality monitoring, business growth analysis, risk management, product development, and operational efficiency by developing robust reports, dashboards, and predictive models. The incumbent will work closely with the Assistant Director (Data Science & Business Analytics) and report to the Director (Finance & MIS) to ensure data-driven decisions align with institutional goals.
Key Responsibilities
1. Data Management and Analysis
Extract, clean, transform, and integrate data from the core banking/MIS, loan portfolio system, savings module, client database, and other internal/external sources.
Perform descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics on microfinance operations.
Maintain and improve data pipelines, data quality checks, and documentation of analytical processes.
2. Business Insights and Reporting
Design, build, and maintain automated dashboards and periodic management reports (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual) using relevant tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Excel, or similar.
Prepare high-quality analytical reports and presentations for senior management, board, regulators, and investors.
Interpret data and translate findings into clear, concise, and actionable business recommendations.
Conduct ad-hoc analyses to answer specific business questions from management or functional heads.
3. Predictive Modeling and Forecasting
Develop and validate statistical and machine learning models to support financial and non-financial activities.
Monitor model performance and recalibrate as necessary; document model methodology and results.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with IT/MIS to ensure data architecture, data warehouse integrity, and data governance standards are maintained.
Work with Finance, Operations, Risk, Internal Audit, HR, and Branch Management to understand data requirements and deliver relevant analytics.
Assist in training branch and field staff on data literacy, dashboard usage, and basic data-driven decision-making.
Support the Assistant Director (Data Science & Business Analytics) in preparing department strategies, budgets, and project plans related to analytics.
5. Continuous Improvement and Governance
Ensure all analytics activities comply with ASA MFI data privacy, confidentiality, and regulatory requirements.
Stay current with emerging analytics tools, techniques, and best practices in the microfinance sector.
Recommend improvements to data collection processes, MIS functionality, and reporting frameworks.
Document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for recurring analyses and reports.
In addition, perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Management or authority.
The probationary period will be 1 (one) year long. After successfully completing the probationary period, the employee will be placed on the regular ASA pay scale.
