Responsibilities & Context:

A. Production Management

• Lead the overall polyester dyeing, finishing, and processing operations.

• Prepare and execute daily, weekly, and monthly production plans.

• Ensure achievement of production targets within the approved time and cost.

• Monitor machine loading, batch planning, capacity utilisation, and workflow.

• Ensure proper coordination between laboratory, dyeing, finishing, quality, maintenance, and planning teams.

• Minimise production delays, idle time, bottlenecks, and process interruptions.

• Ensure timely completion of urgent and priority orders.

B. Technical and Process Management

• Establish and maintain standard operating procedures for polyester dyeing and finishing.

• Monitor dyeing temperature, pressure, time, pH, liquor ratio, chemical dosage, and other process parameters.

• Review dyeing recipes and processing methods before bulk production.

• Ensure successful laboratory-to-bulk shade transfer.

• Resolve shade variation, uneven dyeing, patchiness, crease marks, colour spots, poor fastness, and other processing defects.

• Optimise dyeing and finishing processes to reduce cycle time, chemical use, water consumption, and energy consumption.

• Introduce suitable technology, machinery, chemicals, and processing methods to improve results.

C. Quality Management

• Ensure that finished products meet buyer specifications and internal quality standards.

• Monitor colour matching, colour fastness, dimensional stability, fabric appearance, hand feel, width, GSM, and other quality parameters.

• Control reprocessing, re-dyeing, rejection, downgrade, and customer complaints.

• Conduct root cause analysis for quality failures and implement corrective and preventive actions.

• Work closely with Quality Assurance and Laboratory teams to maintain consistent product quality.

• Ensure proper recordkeeping and traceability of production batches.

D. Cost Control and Efficiency

• Monitor dyes, chemicals, auxiliaries, water, steam, electricity, gas, and manpower costs.

• Reduce production cost without compromising quality or delivery.

• Control excess chemical consumption, process loss, wastage, and reprocessing.

• Improve machine productivity, production efficiency, and right-first-time performance.

• Analyse actual production cost against budgeted or standard cost.

• Prepare and implement cost-reduction and productivity-improvement plans.

E. Planning and Delivery

• Coordinate with Production Planning and Marketing teams regarding order priority, production schedules, and delivery commitments.

• Review order status and identify potential production or delivery risks.

• Ensure materials, dyes, chemicals, machines, and manpower are available according to the production plan.

• Take corrective action to prevent delays and missed shipment dates.

• Provide regular production and delivery updates to senior management and relevant departments.

F. Team Leadership

• Lead, supervise, and develop managers, officers, engineers, supervisors, operators, and workers.

• Allocate duties and establish clear performance targets for team members.

• Conduct regular production, quality, and technical meetings.

• Identify training needs and arrange technical and operational training.

• Build a disciplined, accountable, and performance-focused work culture.

• Evaluate team performance and recommend promotion, training, transfer, or corrective action where necessary.

G. Machine and Maintenance Coordination

• Ensure the proper operation and utilisation of dyeing and finishing machinery.

• Coordinate with Maintenance and Utility departments for preventive maintenance and emergency repairs.

• Monitor machine condition, breakdown frequency, and maintenance performance.

• Ensure that machine calibration and process control instruments remain accurate.

• Participate in machinery selection, installation, commissioning, and production trials.

H. Safety and Environmental Compliance

• Ensure compliance with occupational health, safety, chemical handling, and environmental standards.

• Promote the use of personal protective equipment and safe working practices.

• Ensure proper storage, handling, and disposal of dyes, chemicals, and hazardous materials.

• Coordinate with the ETP and Utility teams to control wastewater and environmental impact.

• Participate in safety inspections, environmental audits, buyer audits, and compliance assessments.

• Take immediate corrective action against unsafe practices or compliance failures.

I. Reporting and Performance Monitoring

• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production and performance reports.

• Monitor key performance indicators, including production quantity, efficiency, machine utilisation, right-first-time rate, reprocess percentage, rejection rate, chemical cost, utility cost, and delivery performance.

• Present operational performance, challenges, corrective actions, and improvement plans to senior management.

• Maintain accurate records of production, quality, cost, manpower, breakdowns, and process performance.

• Use data to support production, investment, technical, and operational decisions.

J. Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities for process automation, productivity improvement, and cost reduction.

• Lead continuous improvement, waste reduction, and problem-solving initiatives.

• Benchmark production performance against industry standards and best practices.

• Support product development, new fabric trials, new chemical trials, and process innovation.

• Implement corrective actions based on customer feedback, audits, and internal performance reviews.

K. Interdepartmental Coordination

• Coordinate with Marketing regarding customer requirements, product specifications, sample development, and delivery schedules.

• Work with Commercial and Supply Chain teams to ensure timely availability of dyes, chemicals, spare parts, and other materials.

• Coordinate with Human Resources regarding manpower planning, discipline, training, and performance management.

• Work with Finance and Costing teams to analyse production costs and operational variances.

• Support senior management in preparing budgets, capacity plans, investment proposals, and operational strategies.
