Job Context:
∎ Organisation Description: BLAST is a leading national non-governmental legal services organisation providing legal advice, mediation, and litigation services, and undertaking advocacy to ensure the rights of women, men and children living in poverty or facing discrimination or social exclusion throughout the country. BLAST works through its Head Office in Dhaka and 25 District-level Offices with a network of panel lawyers and partner organisations.
∎ Position Description: BLAST is looking for a dynamic, high-achieving individual with a commitment to rights and justice, and established expertise and experience in directing and managing programmes, preferably with a background in the justice sector, to be part of a senior management team. You will be responsible for directing our programmes, all focused on aspects of ensuring access to justice, providing leadership to and mentoring and supervising programme managers, ensuring coordination and consistency , across the organisation, and will be directly reportable to the Deputy Director (Programme) and Honorary Executive Director.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Responsible for the overall implementation of different projects on access to justice, supervising and directing the implementation and monitoring of project activities; identifying and addressing challenges;
∎ Part of the Senior Management Team;
∎ Reportable to and accountable to the Deputy Director (Programme) and Honorary Executive Director;
∎ Communication with and direction and supervision of Project Coordinators/Managers, tracking of project implementation and progress, and timely completion of deliverables;
∎ Communication with concerned government agencies, donors and civil society;
∎ Addressing and convening networking meetings, seminars, training, and workshops;
∎ Designing and editing project reports and workshop or event reports, as well as advocacy reports;
∎ Communications with the media as required;
∎ Any other activities as may be required.
∎ Job Nature: Senior level full time position
∎ Location: Dhaka, with occasional field travel required (at least once a quarter)
Additional Requirements:
∎ • Both males and females are allowed to apply
∎ At least 5-7 years relevant management experience; background in law or justice sector preferred but not essential;
∎ Strong analytical strategic thinking and planning skills with leadership qualities;
∎ Proven skills in setting priorities, leading teams, and delivering on projects;
∎ Capacity to and experience in directing projects;
∎ Strong writing and reporting skills;
∎ Fluent in written and spoken Bangla and English;
∎ Proficient in MS Word and Excel;
∎ Excellent interpersonal communication and skills.
Salary:
∎ Negotiable
∎ Salary, benefits and allowances will be commensurate with experience and BLAST’s salary scale amounting to taka 70,000 negotiable dependent on experience
Costs in relation to field work, including travel and daily allowances, will be borne by the organisation
