Responsibilities & Context:

About ASA: ASA is one of the largest and globally leading recognised microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Bangladesh. With over 3,000 branches nationwide, ASA serves millions of its members through micro-credit products, MSME loan products, savings products, client welfare fund services, and social activities. ASA operates a fully self-sustaining, donor-free model and is renowned for its in-house digital ecosystem—the ASA Microfinance Management System (AMMS)—which fully automates and is a real-time online system.

Job Context: ASA is seeking a visionary Assistant Director (Business Analytics) to join the Finance and MIS Department. This role is tasked with transforming ASA’s vast financial and operational data into a strategic corporate asset.

The successful candidate will develop and implement analytics frameworks that enhance financial performance, optimize microfinance operations, manage credit risk, and provide analytics to support strategic planning under the direct supervision of Director (Finance and MIS). This role will bridge the gap between data science and business strategy, ensuring full support to the Operations Teams so that ASA can continue to lead the microfinance sector through innovation and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Analytics & Executive Business Intelligence

  • Enterprise Framework Design: Design, develop, and deploy scalable data analytics frameworks that drive high-stakes financial and operational decision-making.

  • Predictive & Prescriptive Modeling: Build advanced models to forecast portfolio performance, simulate macroeconomic shocks, evaluate climate risks, and assess policy change impacts on ASA's portfolio.

  • Operational Process Mining: Conduct deep-dive analyses of the loan disbursement, collection, and savings lifecycles to identify systemic bottlenecks, providing strategic roadmaps to reduce turnaround times and operational costs.

  • Market & Product Analytics: Analyze member demographics, repayment behaviors, and geographic trends to identify untapped market segments, recommend innovative loan structures, and optimize branch coverage for maximum social impact and sustainability.

  • Executive Reporting: Translate complex analytical outputs into clear, actionable, and data-backed narratives for Senior executives and departmental heads.

2. MIS Automation, Data Architecture & Enterprise Reporting

  • MIS Evolution: Evolve ASA’s Management Information Systems (MIS) by ensuring data architecture (leveraging AMMS) supports real-time, scalable, and highly resilient reporting for all field operations and head-office functions.

  • Real-time Report Generation: Collaborate with central IT and operations decisions to standardize error-correction impacts and enhance data synchronization across the Branch Program, Accounts, ancillary modules, and the BI system, ensuring seamless reconciliation evidence, automated GL mapping, and near real-time report generation by considering all reporting standards without any manual intervention.

  • Data Quality & Anomaly Detection: Spearhead the implementation of rigorous data validation rules and automated anomaly detection protocols within the Branch Program, Accounts, and central BI layers to guarantee the integrity, timeliness, and accuracy of data.

  • Standardized Dashboarding: Design, automate, and standardize a comprehensive suite of daily, weekly, and monthly MIS dashboards tailored for different management tiers.

3. Regulatory Compliance, Governance & Risk Analytics

  • Regulatory Adherence: Ensure all analytical outputs, MIS reports, and predictive models ensuring strict adherence to the reporting standards mandated.

  • Model Risk Validation: Develop a rigorous framework for validating all predictive models (e.g., credit scoring, delinquency forecasting) to ensure they are statistically sound, free from bias, and compliant with fair-lending regulatory requirements.

  • Risk & Fraud Analytics: Develop and implement advanced risk scoring models (PD, LGD, EAD), collections analytics, and decision trees. Analyze transactional data to identify emerging fraud trends and build proactive mitigation strategies.

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner extensively with IT, Operations, Internal Audit, and Field Management to ensure analytics initiatives are operationally feasible and seamlessly executable on the ground.

  • In addition, perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Management or authority.
