Job Context:
∎ BLAST is a leading national legal aid and human rights organization providing legal advice, mediation, and litigation services, and undertaking advocacy to ensure the rights of women, men and children living in poverty or facing discrimination/social exclusion. BLAST works through its Head Office in Dhaka and 25 District-level Offices with 2600+ panel lawyers and 100+partner organizations.
∎ Position Description: Since 2017, the Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust (BLAST) has been implementing an initiative titled ‘Legal Empowerment and Rights Protection of Gender and Sexual Minorities’ (LEGS), supported by The Global Equality as part of its Program to Protect the Human Rights of GDC communities. The duration of this initiative is five years, which will be completed in June 2022.
∎ BLAST’s main objectives under the project are to recognise areas of discrimination and exclusion faced by women, girls and gender diverse communities (GDCs) and provide necessary redress, through strengthening access to justice, and other legal empowerment initiatives, to enable women, girls and GDCs to claim and secure their legal rights and catalyse reform of laws, policies and practices
∎ The Advisor Grants Management and Contracts will be responsible for providing capacity building support for women-led and GDC-led CBOs such as providing training on project management (preparing work plans, finance management and reports, delegation, team building), evidence-based learning, and development of infrastructure / resources. Disburse small-grants to trained CBOs to carry out awareness raising activities in their communities; to provide community level orientation on gender diversity and gender equality, including to representatives of city corporations, upazila and union parishads at the level of wards, unions etc regarding protection of rights of GDCs and women and girls; Supporting the effective small grant management and ensure successful implementation by tracking deliverables, update progress status of project activities;
∎ BLAST is looking for an "Advisor, Grants management and Contracts" for its Legal Empowerment and Gender Diversity (LEGS) project. The "Advisor, Grants management and Contract" under LEGS Project must be a highly motivated individual with a proven track record of work on LEGS project management and donor reporting, and will coordinate and lead the project activities. The Advsor, Grants management (LEGS Project) will help facilitate BLAST`s efforts to Supports and coach’s small grantees to manage project documentation and compliance issues; Monitors and tracks project expenditures against budgeted expenditures and develop and implement grants management guidelines, policies, and protocols
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Supporting the effective small grant management and ensure successful implementation by tracking deliverables, update progress status of project activities,
∎ Supports and coach’s small grantees to manage project documentation and compliance issues,
∎ Monitors and tracks project expenditures against budgeted expenditures and develop and implement grants management guidelines, policies, and protocols
∎ Assists in small grantee partner relationships related to post award management.
∎ Collaboration with the Development Team, proactively identify, assess the feasibility of, grants, and pursue public, private and global grant opportunities that match the mission and strategic plan of the BLAST.
∎ Develop and write proposals, case statements, letters of inquiry and other correspondence to donors and government agencies, foundations, corporations and other entities.
∎ Support the Development Team in the completion of grant proposals.
∎ Assist the Development Lead to negotiate and complete agreements and budgets with grant project development teams.
∎ Review all grant related reports.
∎ Research, compile and analyse data relating to grants, and identify trends and best practices in terms of key interventions.
∎ Ensure compliance with all pre- and post-grant policies and procedures.
∎ Promote the organisation's mission with donors.
∎ Participate in staff, partner and other meetings on behalf of BLAST as required.
∎ Engage and co-ordinate interns and volunteers in grant-making and related reporting.
∎ Support grants team as required.
∎ Perform any other tasks as and when required by the management.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Demonstrated experience and capacity to undertake and manage for grants related tasks.
∎ Excellent writing skills in English.
∎ Good interpersonal skills.
∎ Ability to work autonomously and in teams, take initiative, manage priorities.
∎ Ability to optimize teamwork, learning and efficiency.
∎ Proficient in MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint, and other data processing software.
