Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in accounting or finance, preferably in NGOs or donor-funded development projects.

  • Experience in bookkeeping, financial documentation, payment processing, and financial reporting.

Required Competencies

  • Familiarity with donor financial compliance, taxation, and VAT regulations.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.

  • Strong numerical, analytical, and record-keeping skills.

Responsibilities & Context:

Background

Nagorik Uddyog is a national level human rights and development organization working in Bangladesh to promote social justice, strengthen democratic governance, and advance the rights of marginalized and excluded communities. The organization has designed a project titled ‘DISHA (Designing Inclusive Services through Human-centred Approaches)’ with the goal of strengthening inclusive, citizen-centered, and accountable public and CSO service delivery through mainstreaming the integration of Human Centered Design (HCD), co-creation, and a structured participation approach. The two-years long project will work on strengthening capacities of CSOs and government actors in Human-Centered Design; enabling stakeholders to jointly design and test solutions to real service challenges at local level; developing inclusive, citizen-centered service solutions and participation formats; fostering sustainable collaboration between CSOs, citizens, and government actors; and creating a network of HCD facilitators to apply and replicate the approach.

Job Summary

The Accounts Officer will support the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of the project by maintaining accurate financial records, processing payments, preparing financial documentation, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and donor requirements. The position will work under the supervision of the Senior Finance Officer and provide timely financial support for effective project implementation.

Job Context: (Contractual – Project Based)

Job Location: Dhaka, with occasional field travel as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate accounting records, including cash book, bank book, ledgers, and supporting financial documents.

  • Prepare payment vouchers, journal vouchers, receipts, and other accounting documents for review and approval.

  • Process payments to staff, consultants, vendors, and service providers following organizational financial procedures.

  • Maintain proper filing and documentation of financial records for audit and compliance purposes.

  • Assist in preparing bank reconciliations and monitor cash and bank balances.

  • Support preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.

  • Assist in monitoring budget utilization and maintaining expenditure records.

  • Ensure proper deduction and documentation of tax and VAT in accordance with applicable regulations.

  • Verify supporting documents for travel advances, expense settlements, and procurement-related payments.

  • Support internal and external audits by preparing required financial documents and schedules.

  • Coordinate with programme and administrative staff to obtain financial documentation for project activities.

  • Maintain confidentiality of financial information and ensure compliance with organizational and donor financial policies.

  • Perform any other accounting and finance-related duties assigned by the Senior Finance Officer.

Reporting Relationship

  • The Accounts Officer will report to the Senior Finance Officer and work closely with the Finance and Administration team to ensure efficient financial management and compliance.



Job Other Benifits:
    • Salary: Tk. 35000 - 40000 (Monthly) Two yearly bonus (equivalent to one month’s salary)

    • Festival Bonus: 2 (Yearly)
