Educational Requirements:
∎ Master of Social Science (MSS) in Social Science, Sociology, Social welfare, Social work

Job Context:
∎ Job Level : Mid-level
∎ Job Location : Mainly in Dhaka but the post holder will be expected to undertake frequent travel within Bangladesh including to remote areas

Job Responsibilities:
∎ To take a lead in ensuring a safety approach to working practices with children and vulnerable adults involved in the CLARISSA programme.
∎ To encourage and support the CLARISSA team in Bangladesh adopting a safety approach that identifies risks to children and putting measures in place to prevent and mitigate such risks.
∎ To create awareness through meetings, training and events that presents opportunities for discussing vulnerabilities, safeguarding risks and best practice in preventing and mitigating harm and abuse to children and vulnerable adults in the programme.
∎ To deliver orientation and induction training on the programme safeguarding policy and procedures to staff and associates and to provide information and clarification regarding safeguarding risks, prevention and mitigation in CLARISSA programme and operations.
∎ To ensure there is consistency in the implementation of CLARISSA safeguarding protocol in the day to day delivery of programme activities.
∎ To receive safeguarding reports/concerns and decide the steps to take in order to get the best outcome for survivors and victims of abuse, in consultation with the Country Coordinator and following an agreed reporting procedure.
∎ To document and keep records relating to safeguarding incidents and safe practices.
∎ To make referrals to external services like legal, medical, mental health and psychosocial support services where required.
∎ To support the monitoring and review of safeguarding measures by supporting the delivery of survey, review and learning processes.
∎ To support other work streams in carrying out risk assessment and helping them develop measures to prevent and mitigate harm to children and vulnerable adults.
∎ To review and update colleagues in relation to knowledge of legal, policy and procedural frameworks and to demonstrate professional competencies in social work practice that will keep children and vulnerable adults involved in the programme safe.
∎ To work with individuals, families, carer groups and communities to help them make informed decisions, enabling them to clarify and express their needs and contribute to programme planning and delivery.
∎ To assess needs, risks and options pertaining to programme participants, taking into account legal and statutory requirements regarding safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.
∎ To assess, identify, plan, implement and review the circumstances of individuals and their families involved in the programme and the need for (and availability of) procedural and legal interventions to meet their immediate needs.
∎ To work actively with families/carers to identify and meet the support needs of children and vulnerable adults involved in the programme.
∎ To support the monitoring and evaluation and the effectiveness of interventions, using professional and managerial supervision and support to improve safe practices.
∎ To contribute to the identification and agreement of outcomes required of the project.
∎ To participate in supervisions, appraisals and team meetings, identifying issues and possible solutions where discussion and decision required.
∎ To work within the budget framework of the service to identify specific packages of care to respond to individual child assessments.
∎ To offer specific advice to management and team members in areas of specialist knowledge.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Age 22 to 35 years
∎ Fluency in spoken and written English
∎ Fluency in local language/s
∎ Good understanding of the realities faced by children in the worst forms of child labour and those who are vulnerable to being drawn into it.
∎ Ability to give clear written and verbal accounts of casework issues.
∎ Ability to write clear, concise records and reports.
∎ Skills in assessment and analysis of risk.
∎ Ability to communicate effectively and creatively with children/vulnerable adults in a non-judgmental manner
∎ Ability to effectively organize work within a framework where time and service delivery targets are set.
∎ Advocacy skills
∎ Strong interpersonal skills, including:Ability to work collaboratively in mixed skill teams (e.g. researchers and practitioners);Skills in negotiation, problem-solving and decision-making
∎ Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to manage a complex workload
∎ Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and procedures
∎ Passion for the programme approach e.g. participatory approach, child centeredness
∎ Commitment to the principles of equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice.
∎ Willingness to travel to and work with communities living in poverty in remote areas
∎ Self-motivated, goal-oriented, enthusiastic and entrepreneurial attitude

∎ Knowledge of / experience of the programme approach e.g. participatory approach, child centeredness
∎ Experience of managing wide ranging complexity and problems, and competing demands.
∎ Experience of working with street connected children, domestic workers, children in commercial sex work, child migrant workers, etc.
∎ Management systems and organizational skills.
∎ Ability to use information technology systems.
∎ Committed to the delivery of high quality services within a changing and complex environment.
∎ Full valid driving licence and the use of a car.

Salary: Negotiable
