ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced Social Expert to contribute to social safeguard compliance, stakeholder engagement, and social impact reporting under a World Bank-funded Government project.

The Social Expert will ensure that all project activities address social risks, uphold community rights, and comply with the World Bank Environmental and Social Framework (ESF), ADB Safeguard Policy Statement (SPS 2009), and applicable national social protection laws.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

•  Prepare and implement social safeguard components of the Environmental and Social Management Strategies and Implementation Plans (ES-MSIP).

•  Design and execute stakeholder engagement plans, including community consultations and information disclosure activities in line with WB and ADB requirements.

•  Conduct social impact assessments for project-affected communities and prepare relevant reports.

•  Monitor and document land access, resettlement, and compensation issues arising from project civil works.

•  Prepare periodic social compliance and monitoring reports for submission to the employer and relevant authorities.

•  Support contractor's team in addressing community concerns related to project activities.

•  Maintain records of community complaints, consultations, and resolutions in compliance with WB ESF and ADB SPS requirements.

•  Coordinate with the Environmental Expert, Labour Management Expert, and SEAH Expert to ensure integrated social compliance.


CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

•  Bachelor's degree (any relevant discipline)

•  Minimum 03 years of total professional experience

•  At least 02 years of experience in preparing social safeguard reports following World Bank and ADB guidelines:

KEY SKILLS

•  Excellent written and verbal communication skills for stakeholder engagement and report preparation

•  Knowledge of World Bank ESF (e.g. ESS1, ESS5, ESS10) and ADB SPS 2009 (e.g. Safeguard Requirements 2 and 3)

•  Ability to facilitate community consultations and resolve grievances effectively

•  Familiarity with Bangladesh social protection laws and resettlement frameworks

•  Strong interpersonal skills for working with diverse community groups

•  Experience with documentation and database management for social monitoring
