ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a skilled Carbon Abatement Expert to support sustainability planning, emissions assessment, and carbon-related reporting under a World Bank-funded Government project.

This project is part of a gas sector efficiency improvement and carbon abatement initiative. The Carbon Abatement Expert will contribute to quantifying, reporting, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions and carbon footprint associated with the project's infrastructure activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

•  Prepare carbon abatement reports and emissions monitoring frameworks in compliance with World Bank ESS3, ADB Climate Change Operational Framework, and project-specific requirements.

•  Quantify and document greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and reductions resulting from project activities.

•  Develop carbon accounting methodologies and tools to track emission reductions across the project area.

•  Assess resource efficiency improvements from project interventions and identify opportunities for further carbon abatement.

•  Support the preparation of pollution prevention and management components of the ES-MSIP.

•  Monitor gas leakage detection activities and assess their contribution to carbon abatement goals.

•  Prepare periodic sustainability and carbon monitoring reports for submission to the employer and relevant authorities.

•  Contribute to Sustainable Procurement Proposals by incorporating carbon reduction considerations in procurement decisions.

•  Keep up to date with international carbon standards, climate frameworks, and World Bank and ADB climate finance requirements.

•  Coordinate with the Environmental Expert to align carbon abatement reporting with overall environmental compliance activities.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

•  Bachelor's degree (any relevant discipline)

•  Minimum 03 years of total professional experience

•  At least 02 years of experience in preparing carbon abatement or sustainability reports following World Bank and ADB guidelines.

KEY SKILLS

•  Strong understanding of World Bank ESS3 and ADB Climate Change Operational Framework

•  Ability to quantify and document GHG emission reductions in an infrastructure context

•  Experience with carbon accounting tools, resource efficiency analysis, and emission monitoring

•  Knowledge of gas leak detection, measurement, and its relationship to carbon abatement

•  Strong analytical and report writing skills for sustainability and carbon monitoring documentation

•  Familiarity with Bangladesh's national climate commitments, NDC targets, and relevant environmental regulations
