Position Overview

The Senior Software Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering high-quality SaaS software systems. This includes bringing strong skills in analysis, design, programming, and testing to support the transition of our platform to an AWS-hosted SaaS solution.

The Senior Software Engineer applies their expertise in PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, and AWS to build new product features, support customer issues, and contribute to the continuous improvement of development practices. They work as part of a cross-functional agile team, collaborating closely with engineers, product managers, and QA to deliver scalable and maintainable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, Implement and test new features in collaboration with the team.

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable systems and APIs.

• Refactor legacy code to improve performance and maintainability.

• Conduct code reviews to ensure quality, performance, and reliability.

• Optimise system performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including testers, tech writers, and product owners.

• Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

• Work as part of an Agile Software development team and follow good software development practices.

• Write clean, efficient, well-documented code that adheres to industry best practices.

• Play a leading role in the enhancement of the product in line with our technical strategic direction.

• Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation within our platform.

• Collaborate with testers, tech writers, developers, development managers and product owners to drive continuous improvement in products and processes

• Drive feature delivery end-to-end, ensuring quality, reliability, and maintainability.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver business outcomes.

• Promote innovation, continuous improvement, and adoption of emerging technologies.

Knowledge, Skills & Attributes

• Full Stack Developer with 5+ years of experience & expertise in PHP (Symfony, Laravel) and modern JS frameworks (React, Angular).

• Strong experience with relational & NoSQL databases, RESTful APIs, cloud development (AWS), and Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA).

• Skilled in designing scalable, stable, and cohesive architectures across backend services, databases, and web applications.

• Hands-on with CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, Confluence, and delivering high-quality, well-tested code.

• Deep Agile experience: pair programming, code reviews, mentoring, and applying industry best practices.

• Strong decision-making, analytical problem-solving, and risk-aware innovation skills to optimize technical and business outcomes.

• Effective communicator, presenting complex ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
