Job Context:
∎ Lawyer Case Management will provide free legal assistance to Persons of Concern (PoCs), assist POCs in lodging complaints or filing cases before the court and police station as required to get legal remedies ; targeted services for detained PoCs detained, including monitoring of case processing, legal representation of PoCs before the district level courts, and ensure progress of cases through regular follow-up in courts , regular monitoring of cases in detention centers through visits in prisons and advocacy or intervention with the government officials in Cox’s Bazar prison.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Closely coordinate with UNHCR Legal Protection, law enforcement agencies and courts to ensure quality, timely and effective delivery of legal support and of Persons of Concern (PoCs) in courts and police stations
∎ Will be guided by Senior Case Management Lawyer to ensure support to PoCs to file complaints, FIR, GD and cases at police stations and courts
∎ Provide legal representation and support to PoCs at Cox’s Bazar Sadar police stations and courts
∎ Conduct visits to detention centers and advocate or intervene with law enforcement agencies including Cox’s Bazar Sadar police and courts to release PoCs who will held in detention
∎ Inform and facilitate PoCs to attend court when required
∎ Organize detention center visits for refugees to visit the immediate/close family members in prison
∎ Keep accurate records of court cases and prepare case reports, case summary report and case progress report to be submitted daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly report
∎ Provide legal advice on court cases involving PoCs and legal opinions on legal matters/issues/developments impacting on PoCs
∎ Update PoCs about case progress on regular basis and whenever there is a new development.
∎ Lawyers will regular monitoring the prisons and keep records, documentation and send report to Project manager.
∎ Lawyer Case Management will organize training, workshops and advocacy sessions across the spectrum of official and legal authorities in the area, support of specialist trainers will be sought when required
∎ Lawyer Case Management will collect details of people with relatives in prison and send report to the lawyers.
∎ Establish and maintain good network with the judicial institutions and government stakeholders including the courts, police and prison officials in Cox’s Bazar to deliver effective legal assistance to the POC
∎ Support detention center visit activities and do advocacy with jailer to make the jail visit process smoother.
∎ Prepare monthly/quarterly/half-yearly/yearly legal statements/ reports and work plan as per guideline
∎ Perform administrative and management functions
∎ Advise Case Management Associate to perform assigned responsibilities and collect update on progress.
∎ Work on capacity development of Case Management Associate and provide constructive feedbacks to ensure smoother support.
∎ Support in urgent basis cases.
∎ Perform all other duties as and when required by the Manager/ Supervisor.
∎ Prepare monthly/quarterly/half-yearly/yearly legal statements/ reports and work plan as per guideline
∎ Prepare internal and external reports within agreed deadlines using BRAC and donor formats
∎ Maintain open, supportive, and professional relationships with team members, and promote a strong team spirit
∎ Provide regular on-going and constructive feedback to Case management associate to develop their practice
∎ Provide related feedback to Legal officers & associate legal officers, develop action plans
∎ Collaborate with Project Manager, Senior Case Management Lawyer, Case Management Associate, Legal Officers and associate legal officers to ensure programming is properly supported and that all activities are conducted according to BRAC Administration, HR, Logistics, Finance and other policies and procedures
∎ Coordinate with BRAC’s other departments as required to ensure effective and collaborative working relationships
∎ Develop and maintain effective working relationships with all relevant stakeholders including community members, NGOs, government authorities and UN agencies;
∎ Participate in internal coordination meetings as required and liaise with BRAC's other programs as needed to ensure effective collaboration.
∎ Coordinate and follow-up with partner organizations and other project stakeholders as required
∎ Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the programme's goals on safeguarding implementation
∎ Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding, Case Management Associate has to ensure/contribute establishing a safe working environment.
∎ Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action
∎ Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so

Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at least 18 years
∎ English competency in writing skill i.e. experiences of developing/constructing Qualitative and Narrative reports.
∎ Ability to organize and prioritize work and completing tasks, meet deadlines and maintain composure without supervision
∎ Excellent communication, listening and observation skills, including ability to create trust, support, maintain confidentiality, respect of all ages, background and diversity
