Experience

• Minimum 6–9 years of hands-on merchandising experience in the woven tops, blouses, shirts, or dresses category within an international buying house or export-oriented garment manufacturer.
• Proven experience managing high-volume orders for international fashion retail brands.
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage a buyer account from development through shipment.

Technical Knowledge

• Strong knowledge of woven and knit fabric construction relevant to tops and dresses (cotton, viscose, polyester blends, linen, chiffon, georgette, etc.).
• Expertise in garment construction techniques for tops and dresses including draping, seam finishes, closures, and embellishment methods.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical packs, graded specs, fit comments, and construction guidelines.
• Sound understanding of costing, FOB pricing, and gross margin calculations.
• Familiarity with international testing and compliance standards (OEKO-TEX, REACH, CPSC, etc.).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with PLM or merchandising ERP systems is a plus.

Role Overview

The Senior Merchandiser – Tops & Dresses will be responsible for end-to-end merchandising operations for the Tops & Dresses category, managing the full product lifecycle from concept development through to on-time delivery. The incumbent will act as the primary liaison between international buyers and local manufacturing units, ensuring all products are developed, produced, and delivered in alignment with buyer expectations, quality standards, and commercial objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the complete merchandising cycle for Tops & Dresses, including style development, sampling, bulk production follow-up, and shipment coordination.
• Analyze buyer tech packs, fashion briefs, and trend direction for tops (blouses, shirts, t-shirts, tunics) and dresses (casual, formal, occasion wear, shirt dresses, wrap dresses) to develop commercially viable products.
• Prepare and maintain critical path (Time & Action calendar) for each style, ensuring all milestones — sampling, approvals, fabric sourcing, bulk production, and shipment — are achieved on time.
• Coordinate with fabric and trim suppliers for timely procurement of materials; review fabric construction, print, embroidery, and embellishment quality in line with buyer specifications.
• Lead pre-production meetings and track all comments from buyers on fit, construction, fabric, and finish; ensure all approval stages (proto, fit, salesman sample, PP, TOP) are executed correctly.
• Negotiate pricing, lead times, and order terms with manufacturers while maintaining buyer margin requirements and company profitability targets.
• Liaise daily with overseas buyers, respond to queries promptly, and manage buyer communications professionally to build long-term relationships.
• Monitor bulk production progress in factories, identify bottlenecks, and drive corrective actions in coordination with the QC team.
• Review and approve lab dip, bulk fabric, strike-offs, and trim cards prior to production commencement.
• Maintain accurate order records, product trackers, and shipping documentation; ensure compliance with buyer routing guides and import/export regulations.
• Support the development of new supplier partnerships and product categories within the Tops & Dresses segment.
