We partner with leading global fashion brands to develop and deliver exceptional sweater collections across a wide range of constructions, yarns, and styles. Department: Merchandising
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Reporting To: Head of Merchandising / Management
Work Location: Dhaka / Liaison with Knitting & Sweater Manufacturing Units
Role Overview
The Senior Merchandiser – Sweaters will take full ownership of the merchandising function for the Sweater category, managing all stages of the product lifecycle from yarn-level development and design interpretation through to bulk production monitoring and on-time shipment. This role requires specialized knowledge of sweater construction techniques, yarn characteristics, and knitwear production processes, combined with strong buyer management and commercial skills.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the complete end-to-end merchandising process for sweater products including pullovers, cardigans, knitwear sets, jumpers, turtlenecks, and fashion knitwear.
Translate buyer briefs, mood boards, and design specifications into technically sound development requests to knitting factories and yarn suppliers.
Develop and manage detailed Critical Path / Time & Action calendars; monitor all milestones — yarn approval, knit-down samples, full garment samples, PP, and bulk — to ensure on-time delivery.
Source and specify yarns (wool, cotton, acrylic, merino, alpaca, cashmere blends, recycled fibres) in consultation with buyers; manage yarn approval, colour matching, and lab dip processes.
Coordinate all sweater sampling stages: hand-loom samples, knit-down samples, fit samples, salesman samples, pre-production samples, and top-of-production samples.
Lead costing discussions with factories and yarn suppliers; negotiate FOB pricing, ensuring alignment with buyer cost targets while maintaining commercial viability.
Provide detailed technical feedback on construction, stitch type, gauge, yarn count, weight, hand-feel, and finishing in coordination with QC and factory technical teams.
Monitor bulk knitting and finishing production schedules; proactively identify and resolve capacity, quality, or material delays.
Manage all buyer communications including sending approvals, production status reports, shipment updates, and responding to technical queries promptly.
Review and sign off on all pre-production material approvals: yarn dye lots, bulk swatch, trim cards, labels, and packaging specifications.
Maintain complete style records, approval logs, test reports, and shipment documentation for each order.
Ensure compliance with buyer-specific testing protocols, fibre content labelling laws, and sustainability requirements applicable to knitwear.
Support development of new sweater supplier relationships and contribute to category expansion strategies.
Competitive salary commensurate with experience and industry standards.
Festival bonuses and annual performance incentives.
Professional development and training opportunities.
Collaborative, international working environment with strong career growth potential.
