Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Lead the development of knitwear collections, working closely with buyers and designers.
∎ Source and select high-quality yarns, fabrics, and trims suitable for Jersey , rib, interlock, and performance knits.
∎ Work with suppliers to develop new fabrications, washes, and finishing techniques.
∎ Identify, evaluate, and build strong relationships with knitwear manufacturers.
∎ Negotiate prices, lead times, and order quantities to achieve the best cost and quality balance.
∎ Ensure factories comply with ethical, social, and environmental standards.
∎ Prepare and analyze cost sheets, ensuring competitive pricing while maintaining product quality.
∎ Work with factories to optimize fabric consumption and reduce production costs.
∎ Assist buyers in price negotiations and order confirmations.
∎ Oversee the entire sample development process, from proto to pre-production (PP) samples.
∎ Ensure samples meet fit, fabric, color, print, and construction specifications.
∎ Coordinate lab testing for fabric shrinkage, colorfastness, and durability to meet buyer standards.
∎ Track orders from placement to shipment, ensuring production timelines are met.
∎ Work closely with factories to resolve production issues and prevent delays.
∎ Conduct pre-production (PP) meetings to ensure clarity on buyer requirements.
∎ Ensure products meet quality standards through inline and final inspections.
∎ Work with third-party testing agencies to comply with buyer-specific regulations (OEKO-TEX, GOTS, etc.).
∎ Address any quality issues proactively and coordinate corrective actions with suppliers.
∎ Research market trends, fabric innovations, and consumer preferences in knitwear.
∎ Conduct competitor analysis to develop commercially viable products.
∎ Provide insights on seasonal color palettes, textures, and design elements.
∎ Ensure on-time delivery by monitoring shipping schedules and coordinating with logistics teams.
∎ Maintain updated records of shipments, invoices, and supplier performance.
∎ Troubleshoot supply chain disruptions and implement contingency plans.
∎ Maintain accurate records of orders, costing, product development, and supplier details.
∎ Prepare regular reports on sales performance, production status, and margin analysis.
∎ Present product performance insights and improvement strategies to management.
